Abstract:
A method for recovering elastomeric material such as rubber from tires comprising the steps of soaking the tires in a mixture of an oil and a volatile solvent to soften the rubber, subjecting the softened tires to shear conditions in a separator having at least two pairs of counter rotating rollers mounted one above the other. The recovered rubber can be carbonized in a microwave chamber to produce carbon and oil.
Abstract:
A flat belt 20 is prepared. A first belt end 21 of the belt 20 has a finger shape and a second belt end 22 of the belt 20 has the complimentary shape to the first belt end 21. An adhesive is applied to one of an end face 21K of the first belt end 21 and an end face 22K of the second belt end 22 or to both. Next, both end faces 21K and 22K are butted. The butted portion B of the first and second belt ends 21 and 22 are pressed in the belt width direction. Due to this, the end faces 21K and 22K are bonded by the adhesive so that the first and second belt ends 21 and 22 become joined.
Abstract:
A modular conveyor belt (1020) comprises several rigid modules (1030) with a load side comprising a load surface (1033) and with a drive side comprising drive surfaces (1039, 1041) for a sprocket wheel. Connection parts connect the modules (1030) to adjacent modules (1030). The connection parts comprise a flexible joining member (1070) and have a load surface (1073) joining the load surfaces (1033) of the modules (1030). The modular conveyor belt (1020) advantageously does not have any spaces or gaps between the modules (1030) and joining members (1070) and this prevents the accumulation of undesirable debris between the modules (1030).

Abstract:
The application discloses a belt formed of first (52) and (54) second portions of thermoplastic sheet including, respectively, first and second pluralities of tabs (56) spaced apart so as to define first and second pluralities of openings (50) along corresponding first and second edges of the first and second portions of thermoplastic sheet, wherein the first plurality of tabs are joined to the second plurality of tabs so as to join the first edge to the second edge. Also disclosed is a method for forming a belt of a thermoplastic material, including forming angles on a first edge of a first portion of thermoplastic sheet and on a second edge of a second portion of thermoplastic sheet, forming first and second pluralities of openings, respectively, in the first and second portions of thermoplastic sheet, placing together the first and second edges such that they overlap, and joining the first and second portions of thermoplastic sheet together.
Abstract:
A splice joint is for joining first and second synchronous drive belt ends (22, 24) of a belt type comprising a reinforcement material layer (19, 20) covering a base layer (17) formed from a first thermoplastic material. The joint comprises a fused portion of the base layer (17) of the first and second belt ends (22, 24) that define a splice region. At least one coating layer (62) of thermoplastic material overlaps the reinforcement layer of the end portions in the splice region. The coating layer (62) is comprised of a second elastomeric material intended to melt and penetrate into interstices of the reinforcement material layer (19, 20) while within the mold press. Migration of the base layer material through the reinforcement material layer (19, 20) to the pulley-engaging outer surface is thereby inhibited. The second elastomeric material composing the coating layer may be selected to provide desired frictional and wear characteristics.
Abstract:
A belting (10) reinforced with at least one fabric ply (16). The fabric ply (16) is a composite fabric (26). The fabric (26) has two woven layers (28, 30) and an intermediate third layer of straight warp yarns (34). The woven layers (28, 30) and straight warp yarns (34) are bound together by a plurality of binder yarns (38). Each layer (28, 30, 34) of the fabric (26) contributes substantially 25-40 % to the overall strength of the fabric (26). The composite fabric (26) may be used in a multi-ply belting (10) for heavy duty applications; wherein the fabric ply (26) is the center ply (16) and provides approximately 50 to 75 % of the overall belting strength. The fabric (26) may also be used as a single reinforcing ply for light duty application belting.
Abstract:
A suction band, for use in a cigarette making machine for conveying a cigarette filler stream, comprising a tape of heat-softenable plastics material wound so as to produce a multi-layer endless band and having perforations of which the edges of the adjacent perforations in adjacent tape layers are welded or fused together so as to join together the tape layers to form a cohesive perforated band.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the preparation of a partially vulcanized, pre-shaped rubber composition comprised of at least one diene-based elastomer, amorphous silica, coupling agent and liquid diene-based. The partially vulcanized rubber composition is adhered to an unvulcanized rubber substrate to form a composite thereof and the resulting composite vulcanized to create an article of manufacture. The composition may be a component of a tire such as an apex (7), sidewall insert (8) or tread (6). It may also be a component of an industrial rubber product such as a conveyor belt, power transmission belt or a hose.
