Abstract:
An optical scanning or positioning mechanism has a head on which optical components are mounted and an actuator coupled to the head to cause the head to move when the actuator is actuated. There are one or more sets of flexure bearings mounted in the mechanism. The flexure bearings have a restoring torque when moved from a rest position. The bearings are coupled to the head to allow the head to move when actuated by the actuator. One or more magnets are mounted in the mechanism in a location other than in the actuator to compensate for the flexure bearings restoring torque.

When a fossil fuel well is producing fossil fuel, lift gas injected into the well to bring the naturally occurring fluids in the well to the surface along with the fossil fuel and the plunger if the well has a plunger. An instrument is programmed to use the predetermined criteria to dynamically control the rate of injection of the lift gas into the well.

A full-bridge, NPC inverter uses pulse width modulation (PWM) to convert the DC voltage from a solar panel array to an AC voltage at the output of the inverter that is acceptable for connection to a utility. The PWM control unit has a predetermined carrier frequency. The carrier unit uses for each carrier period either positive or negative values of a reference voltage to generate a predetermined number of signals to control the switching on and off of each of the eight inverter switching elements in a predetermined pattern for a predetermined period of the carrier frequency period to thereby produce the acceptable alternating current voltage at the inverter output and not produce between the inverter input and earth ground a carrier frequency component.

An improved robot arrangement for performing predetermined tasks, such as paint finishing, features equipping a robot with a plurality of manipulatable arms, with at least two of the arms performing like operations. Alternatively, a plurality of commonly controlled manipulator arms may be provided by clustering a plurality of conventional single arm robots on a common mounting stand.
