The present invention relates to a process for the acid digestion of metal-containing compounds by leaching by means of an aqueous leachant, wherein the aqueous leachant i) contains an alkanesulphonic acid and, if appropriate, sulphuric acid and/or surfactant and/or ii) a mixture of an alkanesulphonic acid salt and sulphuric acid and also, if appropriate, surfactant. Furthermore, an aqueous leachant containing one or more alkanesulphonic acids and, if appropriate, sulphuric acid and/or surfactant and also an aqueous leachant containing one or more alkanesulphonic acid salts and sulphuric acid and, if appropriate, surfactant are also provided by the present invention.

The invention relates to a composition for coating metal surfaces, which contains a binding component, a corrosion inhibitor polymer based on an ethylenical mono- and dicarboxylic acid and, optionally, additional ethylenical monomers, a solvent component and, optionally, cross-linked components and pigment/filling components. The invention also relates to methods for the production thereof, and to a method for coating a metal surface with the help of said composition, metal surfaces coated according to said method and to the use of the composition as a base coat, in particular, during coil coating or for atmospheric corrosion protection. After drying, the applied layer has, preferably, a thickness of at least 3,1 µm and is thicker than a normal pre-treated layer.

The invention relates to a carboxylate ester of polysaccharide characterised in that it possesses ester bonds with trimellitic anhydride and is soluble in water. The polysaccharide is esterified with trimellitic anhydride and the degree of substitution of the polysaccharide lies in the range of from 0.5 to 3. The invention further relates to methods for the manufacture of these polysaccharides esters in organic solvents, in water or in an extruder or a kneader and to their use in fabric and home care formulations.
