Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device (100) for connecting ribbons into a continuous ribbon with a clamping unit (110, 120) having a clamping device (110-r,120-r)on the inlet side and a clamping device (110-I,120-I) on the outlet side, a cutting device (155) having an upper knife (15) and a lower knife (13) and a joining device, wherein at least the clamping device (110-r,120-r) on the inlet side and/or the clamping device (110-I,120-I) on the outlet side is designed as unit that can be pre-assembled.
Abstract:
The invention provides a method of rapidly machining multiple, often similar or nearly identical, features using a LASER machining system. During LASER machining, light of a wavelength and intensity that will modify the workpiece to be machined is directed at the workpiece and interacts to produce the desired change. If several features are to be machined, the processing speed can be increased by operating on a multiplicity of features at once. In one embodiment of the invention, this is achieved by separating the LASER beam into multiple beams and machining the desired features simultaneously.
Abstract:
Abstract:
An apparatus (40) for manufacturing a discrete curved product from a feed stock includes a source of heat that is adapted to impose a focused beam of light on a least one surface of a work piece to cause the surface of the work piece to expand and thereby move in the general direction of the heat source so as to impart a predetermined radius of curvature to the work piece. The apparatus is described in connection with one example where it may be employed to manufacture a curved backbone for a beam blade windshield wiper assembly form feed stock. In addition, a method of manufacturing a discrete curved product from feed stock, generally, as well as a discrete curved backbone for a beam blade windshield wiper assembly from feed stock, specifically, is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method of joining the ends of metal strip material together by positioning a consumable insert of weld filler material between the full thickness of the strip ends and below the lower surface of the strip ends a predetermined depth to establish a predetermined gap between the strip ends thus allowing for full arc penetration of the strip ends and providing a supply of the filler material to the root of the weld to be formed between the strip ends.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an interconnection between two overlapping end sections of metallic strips (10, 20) in which a quick and economical interconnection should be produced. To this end, the invention provides that several annular welds (30) are provided in the overlapping area (15) which are situated at a distance from the face ends of both strips (10, 20).
