Disclosed is a thermoplastic flexible film suitable for wrapping static sensitive devices such as electronic circuit boards. The film is made of an inherently hydrophilic polyether block amide copolymer in blend with a compatible polymer. Compatible polymers typically are amide polymers or are acid copolymers, such as the nylons or ionomers. The film has a degree of hydrophilicity suitable for packaging static sensitive devices, yet the film is antistatic without requiring the addition of an antistatic agent.

The present invention provides a discontinuous metal/polymer composite, with a metal layer, formed from a plurality of fine metal strands, which may be used, for example, in static or EMI shielding. The metal layer comprises a plurality of fine metal strands provided on the substrate, the metal strands individually having a cross-section with an area of about 100 to 100,000 µm² and the cross-section of the individual metal strands having a flat portion and an arcuate portion. The metal and polymer may be selected so that the composite is capable of being thermoformed without loss of electrical conductivity or transparency.

Provided is a composite produced by processing a resin composition including a thermoplastic resin, carbon nanotubes, and a carbonaceous conductive additive. The carbon nanotubes have an I D /I G of 1.0 or less before the processing. The ratio of residual length of the carbon nanotubes present in the composite is from 40% to 99%. The composite has improved conductivity without deterioration of mechanical properties. Due to these advantages, the composite can be used to manufacture various molded articles.

Interior enclosure surfaces and/or surfaces of electrical components are provided with textures and/or coatings which may be non-reflective with respect to visible and/or infrared light in order to redirect or absorb incident energy associated with internal arcing conditions. The electrical components are also arranged so as to substantially minimize the percentage of back wall exposure, and filler material and/or tile structures may be mounted within the enclosure, which may be non-reflective and/or have textured surfaces or coating layers to mitigate incident arcing energy. In addition, baffles or barriers may be provided within the enclosure to redirect or absorb incident energy from internal arcing.

A lightweight radio/CD player for vehicular application is virtually "fastenerless" and includes a case and frontal interface formed of polymer based material that is molded to provide details to accept audio devices such as playback mechanisms (if desired) and radio receivers, as well as the circuit boards required for electrical control and display. The case and frontal interface are of composite structure, including an insert molded electrically conductive wire mesh screen that has been pre-formed to contour with the molding operation. The wire mesh provides EMC, RFI, BCI and ESD shielding and grounding of the circuit boards via exposed wire mesh pads and adjacent ground clips. The PCB architecture is bifurcated into a first board carrying common circuit components in a surface mount configuration suitable for high volume production, and a second board carrying application specific circuit components in a wave soldered stick mount configuration. The major components and subassemblies are self-fixturing during the final assembly process, eliminating the need for dedicated tools, fixtures and assembly equipment. The major components and subassemblies self-interconnect by integral guide and connection features effecting "slide lock" and "snap lock" self-interconnection. The radio architecture includes improved push buttons employing 4-bar living hinge linkage and front loaded decorative trim buttons.
