The invention resides in a biaxially oriented film for reinforcing an electrolyte membrane of a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, the film being characterized in that the film (i) contains syndiotactic polystyrene as a major component and (ii) has a Young's modulus in at least one of the machine direction and the transverse direction ranging from 4,500 to 8,000 MPa.

The invention relates to a method for producing a deep-drawn film part that is at least partially imprinted, metallized and/or otherwise coated. The method comprises the following steps: making available a plain piece of film (5) from a thermoplastic material that is at least partially imprinted, metallized and/or otherwise coated on one or both surfaces and that comprises at least one film section that corresponds to the deep-drawn part to be produced in terms of its size and imprint, metallization and/or coating; applying said piece of film (5) in a defined orientation to a frame (4), only the edge sections of the piece of film (5) lying on the frame (4); introducing the piece of film (5) lying on the frame (4) into a heating zone and heating at least the film section to a predetermined temperature; and quickly introducing the piece of film (5) so heated into a deformation zone and subjecting it indirectly or directly to a pressure medium pressure of more than 20 bar by means of a fluid pressure medium and deforming it isotactically to the desired deep-drawn part in a period of less than 5 seconds. The method is characterized in that the heating step is carried out in such a manner that at least one side of the entire film section or of most of the part of the film section has a film surface temperature in the range of 10 to 65°C above the Vicat softening point B/50.

The object of the present invention is to provide a masking member which does not contract or deform while being used with heat. In order to attain the object of the present invention, a method for the manufacturing of a thermoplastic resin masking member is provided, in which a thermoplastic resin sheet is first stretch-molded making a green masking member, the green masking member then being heat-treated at a temperature above the thermoplastic resin sheet's softening point, to achieve a size and shape suitable for the part to be masked. Under heat treatment, residual stress residing in the molded article is reduced, so that its construction and deformation is eliminated in the next heating step.
