Abstract: A roll end air fitting adapter is couplable to an end of a cylindrical roll. The adapter includes an inner ring and outer ring defining a central opening concentric with a roll axis, an annular air channel extending about the roll axis, and a plurality of air passages leading from the air channel through the inner ring and/or the outer ring to peripheral outlet openings in an outer circumferential surface(s) of the inner ring and/or the outer ring. A compliant sleeve is disposed along the roll axis with the peripheral outlet openings between the end of the compliant sleeve and the outer ring so that the compliant sleeve overlaps the peripheral outlet openings. Supplying air to the adapter ring by the air source to force air through the air channel and the peripheral outlet openings facilitates sliding the compliant sleeve onto the cylindrical roll.

The plasma treatment arrangement (1) according to the invention comprises a mould formed by at least one or more mould elements (3, 5), wherein at least one of said mould elements is provided with one or more ducts (13; 13'; 13a, 13b) for an ionizable gas, each of said ducts ending with a respective nozzle (17; 17'; 17a, 17b) opening at the surface of said mould element facing the cavity receiving the workpiece to be treated, and with one or more electric discharge generators (19; 19'; 19a, 19b) ending at the surface of said mould element facing the cavity receiving the workpiece to be treated. With respect to prior art plasma treatment arrangements and methods, it is not necessary to create vacuum conditions and the mould elements are not used as electrodes for creating an electric field, said electric discharge generators (19; 9'; 19a, 19b) being provided for this purpose.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for firmly and inexpensively bonding at low temperature a polymer film to another polymer film or to a glass substrate without the use of an organic adhesive. A method for bonding a polymer film includes a step (S1) for forming a first inorganic material layer on part or all of a first polymer film; a step (S3) for forming a second inorganic material layer on part or all of a second polymer film; a step (S2) for surface-activating the surface of the first inorganic material layer by bombarding with particles having a predetermined kinetic energy; a step (S4) for surface-activating the surface of the second inorganic material layer by bombarding with particles having a predetermined kinetic energy; and a step (S5) for abutting the surface-activated surface of the first inorganic material layer against the surface-activated surface of the second inorganic material layer and bonding the first polymer film and second polymer film together.
