There is provided an underlayer film for a self-assembled film and that does not intermix (layer-mix) with the self-assembled film as the upper layer and that enables the formation of a vertical pattern of the self-assembled film. An underlayer film-forming composition for a self-assembled film comprising a polymer including 0.2% by mole or more of a unit structure of a polycyclic aromatic vinyl compound relative to all unit structures of the polymer. The polymer includes 20% by mole or more of a unit structure of an aromatic vinyl compound relative to all the unit structures of the polymer and includes 1% by mole or more of a unit structure of the polycyclic aromatic vinyl compound relative to all the unit structures of the aromatic vinyl compound. The aromatic vinyl compound includes an optionally substituted vinylnaphthalene, acenaphthylene, or vinylcarbazole, and the polycyclic aromatic vinyl compound is vinylnaphthalene, acenaphthylene, or vinylcarbazole. The aromatic vinyl compound includes an optionally substituted styrene and an optionally substituted vinylnaphthalene, acenaphthylene, or vinylcarbazole, and the polycyclic aromatic vinyl compound is vinylnaphthalene, acenaphthylene, or vinylcarbazole.

The monomer mixture includes: a mono(meth)acrylate-based monomer in an amount of 3 wt% to 40 wt% containing: an ethylenic unsaturated group only in a (meth)acrylic acid residue; and a hydroxyl group and at least either an ether group or an ester group in an alcohol residue; another monofunctional vinyl-based monomer in an amount of 10 wt% to 69 wt% containing a single ethylenic unsaturated group; and a polyfunctional vinyl-based monomer in an amount of 30 wt% to 70 wt% containing two or more ethylenic unsaturated groups.

There are provided a liquid composition capable of forming a coating film securing colorless transparency, being excellent in weather resistance, suppressing occurrence of bleedout, and having sufficiently ultraviolet absorbing function and the infrared absorbing function, and a glass article having a coating film formed by this composition. A liquid composition for forming a coating film contains an infrared absorbent selected from a tin-doped indium oxide, an antimony-doped tin oxide, and a composite tungsten oxide; an ultraviolet absorbent selected from a benzophenone-based compound, a triazine-based compound, and a benzotriazole-based compound; predetermined amount of a dispersing agent having a molecular weight of 1,000 to 100,000; predetermined amount of a chelating agent relative forming a complex with the infrared absorbent and having a molecular weight of 1,000 to 100,000, the complex exhibiting substantially no absorption with respect to light having a visible wavelength; a binder component; and a liquid medium.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a luster coating composition which can form a pearl color coating when used on automobile bodies, characterized in that bluish interference is insignificant in a highlight of the coating film, a yellowish transparent color is weak in a shade of the coating film and the white color development of the white base coating film is visible in every direction. The present invention provides a luster coating composition comprising an interference luster pigment and a titanium dioxide pigment, wherein a volume average particle size D90 of the titanium dioxide pigment is within a range of 700 to 1200 nm, and a volume average particle size D50 of the titanium dioxide pigment is within a range of 250 to 900 nm, and a mass ratio of the interference luster pigment and the titanium dioxide pigment is within a range of 10/1 to 5/1 represented in the mass ratio "the interference luster pigment / the titanium dioxide pigment". The present invention further provides a multi layered coating film obtained by a method for producing a multi layered coating film in which the luster coating composition is used, and a multi layered coating film formed thereby.

An organogelling agent for forming reverse worm-like micelles having high safety to living bodies and the environment, favorable feel of use, and a high gelating ability and a thickened gel composition comprising the organogelling agent are provided. Lecithin and ascorbic acid or an ascorbic acid derivative act as an organogelling agent to form reverse worm-like micelles of a variety of oils. A thickened gel composition having a reverse worm-like micelle structure can be prepared with a ternary system of lecithin, ascorbic acid or an ascorbic acid derivative, and a variety of oils.

The invention relates to transparent varnish used in industries such as parquet, wooden furniture, paper, plastic and the like and not including any volatile organic material and the production method thereof. The method realized in order to achieve the objects of this invention mainly comprises the following steps: using an UV-curable polymer or oligomer resin without any volatile organic material within the reactor, making the reaction medium acidic, adding nano-sized metal oxide particles to the mixture, adding silanes to the system, modifying the surfaces of metal oxides with the structure obtained, removing the alcohol and water formed during the reaction, leaving the gel formed for the completion of the reaction, thinning the gel with a reactive thinner after the completion of the reaction, curing the final product in UV oven by adding photo-initiator.

A conductive coating composition which comprises an aqueous dispersion of an intrinsically conductive polymer and a thickener, the thickener being at least one compound selected from a group consisting of polysaccharides, polyethylene oxide, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, and gelatins, preferably at least one compound selected from guar gum and derivatives thereof. This conductive coating composition has a simple composition and can be produced through simple steps. The composition is applicable even to printing techniques including screen printing.
