The invention relates to a torch cutting unit (1) for torch cutting cast cold and hot billets, ingots and slabs from steel in and after continuous steel casting units, having a crane tower (2) and a boom (4) aligned transversely to the casting strand direction, whereon one or two torch carriages (5) with cutting torches (6) can be transversely displaced to the casting strand (3). The crane tower (2) is disposed stationary next to the casting strand (3) and comprises an articulated arm (13) that can be pivoted horizontally within a predetermined angular range. The boom (4) is arranged on said articulated arm in a horizontally rotatable way. The boom (4) is connected to a lift truck (15) with pivot bearings (16) that can be displaced along the articulated arm (13) and/or the boom (4). The boom (4) can be rotated about the pivot bearings in such a way that it is aligned always at a right angle to the casting strand direction during the flame cutting by NC control. The articulated arm (13) also accommodates the tools and equipment supply, and optionally the cooling water supply, and supply lines and control cables as collection line (21).
