    摘要: A rubber hose (20) of an air supply assembly (10) is secured to a resonator (14) by an inserted internal tube (18). A tapered insertion end (44) of the internal tube (18) is inserted into the rubber hose (20) and slides along an angled surface of the rubber hose. The tapered insertion end (44) presses the rubber hose (20) against a hose neck of the resonator (14) to retain and seal the rubber hose. A retention end (42) of the internal tube (18) secures the tube to the resonator. The retention end (42) includes a recessed portion (50) positioned between a pair of flanges (52,54). The tube neck of the resonator engages the recessed portion (50), the flanges (52,54) securing the internal tube (18) in place.

    摘要: A resonator provided for air system that includes a body defining a passageway. A wall is disposed within the chamber and the wall and the chamber are movable relative to one another to define a length and a volume of the cavity. The length and the volume of the cavity define a noise attenuating frequency. By moving the wall and chamber relative to one another the noise attenuating frequency may be changed as the frequency changes during the engine operation. The drive mechanism moves the wall in the chamber relative to one another to change the noise attenuating frequency. The chamber may be a branched type resonator or an inline type resonator. Accordingly, the above described invention provides a resonator that may be adjusted during engine operation to attenuate noise over a variety frequencies.

    摘要: An air induction system for a vehicle engine includes a sensor assembly for monitoring particulate concentration. The sensor assembly is mounted within an air intake housing, which has an inlet and an outlet. An airflow passageway extends between the inlet and the outlet to the vehicle engine. An air filter is mounted within the housing to filter particulates from air flowing through the airflow passageway. The sensor assembly can be mounted to an intake manifold or incorporated into a mass airflow sensor. The particulate sensor generates a particulate signal representative of particulate concentration entering the vehicle engine via the outlet. The signal is sent to an output device monitored by a vehicle operator.

The throttle return spring can be preloaded and restrained at both ends on the throttle shaft assembly thus preventing the preload from being released as the throttle shaft assembly is inserted into the throttle body. One end of the spring can be released to engage a portion of the throttle body thus reducing a portion of the preload. The cover had several flexible fingers that engage a groove in the throttle shaft and prevent the cover from sliding off thus exposing the spring.

The flexible circuit assembly provides for electrical communication between a controller and a plurality of electrical devices. In one embodiment the electrical devices are integral to the flexible circuit assembly to create a flexible circuit/electrical device assembly forming a single replaceable unit. In another embodiment, multiple flexible circuits are sandwiched between layers of foam, with each flexible circuit separated from the others by layers of foam. Each of the multiple flexible circuits attaches to different types electrical devices or sensors. The invention also provides for a decorative skin disposed over the layers of foam that may include a printed design to eliminate the need for an additional decorative engine cover.

    摘要: An accessory drive assembly (10) is provided for a vehicle and includes housing (11) having first and second chambers for first and second accessory drive components (12,13), respectively. The first and second accessory drive components may be a water pump and steering pump, a water pump and alternator, or some other combination of accessory drive components. First and second driven elements are disposed within the first and second chambers, respectively. The driven elements correspond appropriately to the accessory drive component. That is, the driven element for a water pump may be an impeller, and a driven element for a power steering pump may be a gerotor assembly. A common driveshaft (22) is supported in the housing and is coupled to the first and second driven elements. In an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the housing may be a rocker cover. The rocker cover includes a chamber formed therein for an accessory drive component such as a water pump. A driven element is disposed within the chamber and a driveshaft is supported by the rocker cover housing and is coupled to the driven element.
