The invention relates to a method of producing a composite material from a particulate foam that consists of a thermoplastic synthetic material and from at least one layer that is linked with said particulate foam. According to the inventive method, the pre-foamed particles are heated to a temperature in the range of the melting temperature and are interlinked to a molded body. They are also linked with the layer during said step or afterwards. The inventive method is also characterized in that a particulate foam from an polyalkylene terephthalate or a polyalkylene terephthalate blend with a low crystallite portion in an otherwise amorphous phase is used. The particulate foam is tempered while the molded body is produced or while it is linked with the layer and/or afterwards at a temperature that induces the formation of a higher crystallite portion from the amorphous phase.

An adhesive-applying method is disclosed herein. The method comprises: providing a film comprising pressure sensitive adhesive coated on a major surface thereof; heating the film to a softening point of the film; and pressing the film against a substrate with an application device, the application device comprising a film-contacting portion, the film-contacting portion comprising a foam material and having a thermal conductivity of less than 1.8 BTU/hr-in-ft2-° F.; wherein the pressure sensitive adhesive on the major surface of the film adheres to the substrate. Application devices and kits that may be used in conjunction with the method are also disclosed herein.

Novel liquid crystal polymer coatings and methods of applying the same. The liquid crystal polymers (LCPs) comprise high-melting point thermal plastics selected from the group consisting of co-polyesters, co-polyesteramides, or multiple monomer wholly aromatic polyesters. In the preferred embodiment, the LCPs may be chemically modified to provide greater hardness. The method of the present invention involves the thermal spraying of an LCP on the tooling used for curing composite structures.

The present invention relates to a resin film laminated metal sheet for can, in which both faces of the metal sheet have resin film laminated layers, and a surface free energy γs of a face of the resin film is 10 dyn/cm or more to less than 30 dyn/cm, the face becoming an inside of can after can-making and being contacted with stuffed food contents. As the resin film, applicable is a polypropylene film or a propylene ethylene based random copolymer film of polypropylene being a main component. Further, a resin film of polyester being a main component and containing a wax component of 0.1 to 20% is used in a resin film to be an inside of can after can-making. The resin film laminated metal sheet for can according to the invention has excellent formability and adhesion while can-making and superior taking-out property of stuffed food contents.

The method comprises positioning a dry porous medium (29) near a dry surface of a substrate (41) and impregnating the porous medium with a bonding composition by opening a valve (47) and allowing the bonding composition to pass through passageway (33) to groove (31). The impregnated porous medium (29) is maintained near the substrate surface (41) until the substrate surface is at least slightly dissolved in the bonding composition without dissolving the porous medium (29). At least a portion of the bonding composition is flushed through the impregnated porous medium (29) towards the substrate (41) and subsequently away from the surface of the substrate by opening of valve (44) at the adaptor (42) to a vacuum source (45). The bonding composition is then evaporated at a controlled rate from the substrate (41) and the porous medium (29).
