Abstract:
Provided are emissions treatment systems for an exhaust stream having an ammonia-generating component such as a NOx storage reduction (NSR) catalyst or a lean NOx trap (LNT) catalyst, and an SCR catalyst disposed downstream of the ammonia-generating catalyst. The SCR catalyst can be a molecular sieve having the CHA crystal structure, for example SSZ-13 or SAPO-34, which can be ion-exchanged with copper. The LNT can be layered, having an undercoat washcoat layer comprising a support material, at least one precious metal, and at least one NOx sorbent selected from the group consisting of alkaline earth elements, rare earth elements, and combinations thereof and a top washcoat layer comprising a support material, at least one precious metal, and ceria in particulate form, the top washcoat layer being substantially free of alkaline earth components. The emissions treatment system is advantageously used for the treatment of exhaust streams from diesel engines and lean burn gasoline engines.
Abstract:
An oxidation catalyst composite, methods, and systems for the treatment of exhaust gas emissions from a diesel engine are described. More particularly, an oxidation catalyst composite including a first washcoat layer comprising a Pt component and a Pd component, and a second washcoat layer including a refractory metal oxide support containing manganese, a zeolite, and a platinum component is described.
Abstract:
An emission treatment system and method for remediating the nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulate matter, and gaseous hydrocarbons present in diesel engine exhaust streams are described. The emission treatment system has an oxidation catalyst upstream of a soot filter upstream from a NOx reducing catalyst.
Abstract:
An oxidation catalyst composite, methods, and systems for the treatment of exhaust gas emissions from a diesel engine are described. More particularly, described is an oxidation catalyst composite including a first oxidation material comprising a first refractory metal oxide support, a rare earth oxide, and palladium (Pd); a second oxidation material comprising a second refractory metal oxide, and platinum (Pt) and palladium (Pd); and a protective overlayer comprising a third refractory metal oxide, platinum (Pt) and, optionally, palladium (Pd), and a molecular sieve promoted with a metal selected from one or more of Cu, Fe, Co, Ni, Mn, V, and, Ag. The oxidation catalyst composite is sulfur tolerant.
