Compositions for addressing one or more of the effects of aging are described. The compositions comprise a first component comprising repair system activator(s) such as nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+), nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), nicotinamide riboside (NR), nicotinic acid adenine mononucleotide (NaMN), nicotinic acid adenine dinucleotide (NaAD), nicotinic acid riboside (NAR), 1-methylnicotinamide (MNM), cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and combinations thereof; a second component comprising methyl donor(s) such as S-5'-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM), methionine, betaine, choline, folate, vitamin B12, or combinations thereof; and a third component comprising antioxidant defense activators such as H2O2, N2S, NaSH, Na2S, and several others, including combinations thereof. Methods of administering the disclosed compositions or separate formulations of repair system activator, methyl donors, and antioxidant defense activators are also disclosed.

The inventors describe how modified C-glycosidic ellagitannins are safe, palatable and effective at medium and high doses, and produce broad and profound health outcomes in mammals.

Provided are a Maillard reaction inhibitor which effectively inhibits the progress of a Maillard reaction in a living body, and can be safely applied without any adverse side effects and be manufactured without requiring any complicated process, and a skin anti-aging agent, an anti-diabetic complication agent and foods and beverages using the same. The Maillard reaction inhibitor of the present invention contains 50 to 90% by mass of polyphenol as an active ingredient. Since the Maillard reaction inhibitor of the present invention has a potent Maillard reaction inhibitory activity to efficiently inhibit the Maillard reaction in a living body and allow for the prevention and improvement of the various dysfunction of protein in a living body. Due to this activity, the Maillard reaction inhibitor of the present invention suppresses aging and is useful for the prevention and treatment of diabetic complications. Furthermore, when the above-described tannin is mixed in foods and beverages containing collagen, it is possible to suppress the Maillard reaction in the foods and beverages to suppress the deterioration of the foods and beverages, and to also suppress the Maillard reaction in a living body.

Provided is a novel composition that acts to inhibit and/or ameliorate wrinkle formation, does not have adverse effects like those of retinoids, and is highly photostable. An oral composition for reducing wrinkle formation and an oral composition for preventing wrinkle formation are provided, said compositions containing at least one compound selected from a group comprising D-glutamic acid and derivatives and/or salts thereof. Also provided are a pharmaceutical composition and a food composition containing the aforementioned oral composition for reducing wrinkle formation or the aforementioned oral composition for preventing wrinkle formation.

The invention pertains to a liquid composition for preventing and/or treating memory decline and/or cognitive dysfunction, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and/or dementia, said composition comprising: (i) at least 50 mg nucleoside and/or nucleotide per 100 ml; (ii) between 0.2 and 10 grams protein per 100 ml; (iii) between 0.05 and 3 wt.% of thickener, based on total weight of the composition. The thickener is preferably selected from the group consisting of cellulose, xanthan gum, gellan gum, alginate, guar gum, locust bean gum, gum karaya, gum tragacanth, carrageenan, and mixtures thereof. The composition preferably has a loss factor tan ´ between 0.1 and 100, as measured at any strain in the range of 1 - 100 % at 0.1 Hz and 20 °C. It is particularly found that a thickener selected from the group consisting of gellan gum, xanthan gum and cellulose greatly reduces sedimentation.
