摘要: An intervertebral spacer for therapeutic treatment of a patient includes at least one link sized and dimensioned to fit within an intervertebral space in the patient, and is configured to maintain a separation of two adjacent vertebrae for a period of time. A rigid guiding object, which may be a tool or a successive link, is insertable into the patient, to guide other links into the patient using an MIS approach. A pivot is connected between successive links, or between a guide tool and a link, configured to limit a relative range of angular orientation between the link and the guiding tool, or successive links. Multiple links are so joined to form a chain pushable by the last link, and pullable by the first link, to form a chain which may be formed into a curved configuration corresponding to the patient's intervertebral space.

摘要: A prosthetic foot (1) incorporates a foot keel (2) and a calf shank (6) connected to the foot keel to form an ankle joint area of the prosthetic foot (1). The foot keel (2) has forefoot (3) and hindfoot (4) portions and a relatively long midfoot portion (5) extending between and upwardly arched from the forefoot (3) and midfoot hindfoot (4) portions. The calf shank (6) includes a downward convexly curved lower end (7) which is attached at a portion thereof to the keel midfoot portion (5) by way of an adjustable fastener (8) arrangement. The foot has biplanar motion capability and, in a preferred form, also has high low dynamic response characteristics. The adjustable fastener (8) arrangement permits adjustment of the alignment of the calf shank (6) and the foot keel (2) with respect to one another in the longitudinal direction of the foot keel (2) for tuning the performance of the prosthetic foot (1).

A joint replacement prosthesis is also disclosed comprising a biasing element 1140 or a tensioning element 1220 operatively coupled to the artificial ligament 1018. The biasing element 1140 or tensioning element 1220 may be housed in the stem of a tibial tray 1006.-

摘要: A prosthetic foot (70) incorporates a foot keel (71) and a calf shank (72) connected to the foot keel to form an ankle joint area of the prosthetic foot. The foot keel has forefoot and hindfoot portions and an upwardly arched midfoot portion extending between the forefoot and midfoot portions. The calf shank includes a downward convexly curved lower end which is adjustably attached at a portion thereof to the foot keel by way of a releasable fastener arrangement which includes a coupling element (73) intermediate the calf shank and foot keel. The coupling element includes a resilient material forming a joint permitting subtalar joint-like motion of the prosthetic foot in gait.

摘要: A cylindrical, fibrous, porous joint spacer is provided, having excellent properties, flexibility of formation, and operability, which is intended to be implanted as a prosthesis between bones (8,9) to be joined together. The joint spacer of the present invention can be formed from a strip of fabric (1), which is comprised of bioabsorbable fibers and made by a knitting, weaving, non-woven or other technique. The fabric (1) is typically relatively narrow (e.g. 1 to 10 mm wide) and thin (e.g. 0.1 to 1.0 mm thick), depending on the intended application of the prosthetic device to be formed from the fabric (1). The joint spacer of the present invention is made by wrapping said fabric (1) to yield a cylindrical body (2); and fixing the free end of the fabric (1) to the surface of the cylindrical body (2) so formed. The joint spacer of the present invention can be implanted in conjunction with one or more fixation parts (14',14''), to hold the joint spacer in place between the bones (15,16) to be joined.

摘要: Disclosed herein are devices (100), systems and methods of use relating to articulating interbody cages. In one aspect, disclosed is an intervertebral device (100) for use in a human spine including an anterior end (104); a posterior end (102); and at least four peripheral walls (22,24,26). The peripheral walls (26) define an interior volume surrounding a midline of the device and include a superior wall (22), an inferior wall (24) and a pair of opposing, generally trapezoidal - shaped sidewalls. Each of the trapezoidal - shaped sidewalls (26) includes an internal hinge element (60) that is rotatable from a first configuration to at least a second configuration such that the device is expandable in first dimension. Each of the internal hinge elements includes an axis that is coplanar with the midline of the device.
