摘要: The present invention discloses a spray applicator and method of spraying liquids to an area of interest. More particularly, the present invention is particularly useful in spraying non-Newtonian fluids, such as polymer solutions, especially aqueous fibrinogen agents, to a work surface. The spray applicator of the present invention comprises a liquid-dispensing aperture (14), a spray plate (16) capable of receiving the liquid dispensed from the liquid-dispensing aperture (14), and a gas nozzle (18) to provide a stream of carrier gas. The liquid is dispensed onto the spray plate in a plurality of forms, including, for example, a steam or as droplets. The stream of carrier gas flows proximate a shear edge formed on the spray plate. The kinetic energy of the flowing stream of carrier gas draws the liquid off the shear edge of the spray plate resulting in the atomizing of the liquid.

摘要: A process of preparation of autologous fibrin glue for surgical use is disclosed, comprising the steps of taking a sample of blood of the same patient and of concentrating progressively by centrifugation the sample for obtaining a basic product, which when mixed with a starter and other suitable additives produces the fibrin glue ready to be used. A preferred embodiment of the process consists of a closed system using three different plastic bags connected to one another by sealed tubes. More particularly in the first bag the blood sample taken from the patient is collected and mixed with an anticoagulating agent, then separating the plasma from the erythrocytes by centrifugation, said plasma is transferred into the second bag provided with a membrane, where through another centrifugation fibrinogen enriched plasma is separated and transferred to one of the two separated parts forming the third bag, while the other part of the bag contains a thrombin solution, so that by extracting contemporaneously the contents of said two parts and letting them flowing together to a terminal needle, the fibrin glue ready to be used is directly obtained, carrying out a closed system avoiding any contamination of the products.

摘要: A device (20) for the topical dispensing of a powder, typically a powder medicament, comprises, or is adapted to be coupled to, a powder receptacle (31) and a gasflow generator. The gasflow generator is adapted, in use, to cause gas 5 to flow through the device (20), which further comprises an agitator by which the powder and/or the powder receptacle (31) can be mechanically agitated. Actuation of the gasflow generator, which causes gas to flow through the device (20) and to entrain powder from the powder receptacle (31), thereby to dispense powder from the device (20), is accompanied by actuation of the agitator, 10 causing the powder receptacle (31) to be mechanically agitated, thereby facilitating the release of powder from the powder receptacle (31).

摘要: The present invention provides an adsorbent, an adsorption method, and an adsorber for efficiently adsorbing low-density lipoproteins and fibrinogen directly from a body fluid, particularly whole blood, to decrease the concentrations of these components in the body fluid with minimizing losses of useful substances such as HDL and albumin. The adsorbent includes a tryptophan derivative and a polyanionic compound which are immobilized on a water-insoluble porous carrier, wherein the amount of the immobilized polyanionic compound is 0.10 µmol to 1.5 µmol per milliliter of wet volume of the adsorbent, and the molar ratio of the amount of the immobilized tryptophan derivative to the amount of the immobilized polyanionic compound is 1 to 70. The adsorbent is capable of whole blood treatment for safely and efficiently adsorbing low-density lipoproteins and fibrinogen.

摘要: A dual catheter (360) for delivery of a two component sealant (22) such as a fibrinogen, has coaxial inner and outer catheters (372, 364) respectively, each of which conveys a sealant component (fibrinogen or thrombin). The dual catheter (360) has a mixing volume at its distal end to mix the sealant immediately prior to delivery. The inner catheter (366) is reciprocally movable to clear clogs from the mixing volume. Optional features include a channeled plug-like tip (366) to the inner catheter, and a malleable or resilient material at the distal tip (362) to resist tissue damage.

摘要: A method and a device for separating a component, such as fibrin monomer from blood, by centrifugation, involve feeding of blood admixed an anticoagulant to a first annular chamber in a device, where the annular chamber is defined by a cylindrical outer wall and a cylindrical inner wall, both walls extending coaxially about a common axis, as well as by a top wall and a bottom wall. The top wall or the bottom wall is formed by a piston body displaceable within the first chamber. This method involves furthermore a centrifugation of the device about the said common axis to substantially separate blood into a cell fraction and a plasma fraction followed by the resulting plasma fraction being transferred while influenced by the piston body to a second chamber defined by an outer cylindrical wall. The outer cylindrical wall extends coaxially with the said common axis, whereby a fraction with fibrin I is caused to be separated in the second chamber while a suitable enzyme is being added. The separation of fibrin monomer from the plasma fraction in the second chamber is carried out during continued centrifugation whereby a fibrin polymer is deposited on the cylindrical outer wall of said second chamber, whereafter the fluid fraction collected at the bottom of the second chamber is transferred while influenced by the piston body to the first chamber. The fraction with fibrin polymer remaining in the second chamber is substantially deposited on the cylindrical wall and is caused to be dissolved by addition of a solvent and by centrifugation, whereafter it is transferred to a receiving container by passing after addition of a binder to the enzyme through a filter removing said enzyme, whereby a fibrin monomer containing solution is provided.

摘要: There is provided an applicator including: a first liquid flow path through which a first liquid containing fibrinogen passes; a second liquid flow path through which a second liquid containing thrombin passes; a confluence section in which the first liquid and the second liquid merge with each other to form a mixed liquid; and a gas flow path through which a gas for jetting the mixed liquid passes. At least part of a wall portion defining the confluence section is composed of a gas-permeable membrane that is impermeable to the mixed liquid and permeable to the gas. The length of the gas-permeable membrane in a direction in which the mixed liquid flows through the confluence section is 5.0 to 39.0 mm. The flow rate of the gas permeating through the gas-permeable membrane is 0.3 to 2.4 L/minute.
