A fabrication method of an industrial part having high-aspect-ratio through-hole sections using a punch and a die, includes: a first step of drilling a first hole section in a first sheet of sheet material with said punch; a second step of lifting said first sheet in tight contact with a stripper under a condition that said punch is not pulled out from the first hole section; a third step of lifting said punch so that a tip section of said punch is slightly drawn in from a bottom section of said lifted first sheet of sheet material; a fourth step of drilling a second hole section in a second sheet of sheet material with said punch; a fifth step of lifting said second sheet in tight contact with said first sheet under a condition that said punch is not pulled out from the second hole section; and a sixth step of lifting said punch so that a tip section of said punch is slightly drawn in from the bottom section of said lifted second sheet of sheet material. Subsequently, the fourth to sixth steps are repeated for lamination of a plurality of sheets of sheet material.

The sheet presser 40 of the present invention is composed of an elastic material with hardness between 50 to 60 degrees, and comprises: a support portion 46 disposed on one end in the axial direction with a relatively large outer diameter, thick-walled in the radial direction, and engageable in the punching tool 30; a contact portion 42 disposed on the other end in the axial direction with a relatively small outer diameter, thin-walled in the radial direction, and comes in contact with the green sheet 20; and a housing hole 48 axially extending from the contact portion 42 for housing the cutter section 32.

An object of the invention is to provide simple and convenient alignment between two mating form tools. The technical problem is the time consuming trial and error procedures frequently used to align mating tools with fine tolerances, for instance 0.025 mils. The invention solves the alignment problem by using a plurality of alignment members (22) extending upward from a surface (26) of one mating tool (14) so that the alignment members (22) engage in slidable contact with alignment tracks (32) formed in the edges of the other mating tool (14). In certain embodiments the alignment members (22) and tracks (32) can be formed in the four corners of rectangular mating tools, and the alignment members (22) can be cylindrical rods with dome shaped tops (30). The alignment is useful for tooling set-up as well as tooling usage. The principle use of the invention is for alignment between a punch (12) and lead form anvil (14) as they are brought together to form TAB tape outer leads (56) connected to an integrated circuit (54).

A laminator for use in attaching a film (4) cut to a predetermined length to a substrate (1) having positioning holes (guide holes). A boring unit (30) for making holes (through holes of a predetermined size in the portions of the film (4) which correspond to the positioning holes in the substrate (1) is provided in a predetermined position in a film feed path along which the film (4) is supplied from a film feeder to the upper surface of the substrate (1). Owing to this arrangement, the present invention enables holes to be made in the portions of the film (4) which correspond to the positions of the positioning holes in the substrate (1), before the film (4) has been attached to the substrate (1) or while the film (4) is attached to the substrate (1). Accordingly, the operation efficiency can be improved. The laminator is further provided with a device for removing chips of the film (4), which occur when the holes are made in the film (4) with the boring unit (30). Owing to this device, the holes can be formed in the mentioned portions of the film (4) with the chips thereof removed at the same time, before the film (4) has been attached to the substrate (1) or while the film (4) is attached to the substrate (1). Therefore, the yield of the laminated products can be improved.

@ A punching method and apparatus is used in the formation of through holes by punching in a ceramic green sheet for use as the material of a laminated substrate. According to the punching method of the invention, not only the positioning of the work (12) but also the driving of the upper die set (11) are conducted by means of servomotors (1, 15, 18). The speeds and timings of operation of these servomotors are controlled in accordance with a program which is stored beforehand in a microcomputer (21), such as to attain a high speed and efficiency of operation. In addition, a hole clearing operation is conducted immediately after the punching so that the chip remaining in the punched through hole, if any, is forced out from the through hole by the same punch as that used in the punching.
