A method for producing a bottle-shaped container that is highly thermally resistant and shows an excellent shaping/shape-keeping property in a short period of time is provided. The method for producing the bottle-shaped container mainly made of polyethylene terephthalate comprises the steps of: first biaxially-oriented blow-molding a preform mainly made of polyethylene terephthalate in a first metal mold, to form a primary intermediate molded article; causing thermal contraction of the primary intermediate molded aritcle by heating the primary intermediate molded article, to form a secondary intermediate molded article; and second blow-molding the secondary intermediate molded article in a second metal mold, to form the bottle-shaped container, characterized in that in the second biaxially-oriented blow-molding step, fluid is blown into the secondary intermediate molded article to expand the secondary intermediate article, and then further fluid is blown into and circulated in the expanded article to cool the expanded article.

A method for obtaining a relatively large-sized blow molded article superior in mold transfer properties such as surface gloss in a short forming cycle with good productivity by a blow molding using a simple facility. In particular, a method for producing a blow molded article comprising the steps of supplying between forming molds a molten parison formed from a crystalline resin, clamping the molds, blowing a pressurised fluid into the parison so that the parison is tightly secured to the forming surface of the molds and allowing the parison to be solidified, wherein the temperature of the forming surfaces of the molds when the parison is tightly secured thereto ranges from a temperature lower by 10 °C than a crystallizing temperature of the crystalline resin to a melting point of the resin, and wherein a coolant whose temperature is lower than a room temperature is introduced into the parison while the pressurised fluid is being blown in or after it has been blown in for cooling the parison, thereafter the parison being ejected from the molds. An apparatus for producing a blow molded article comprising a blow molding machine, forming molds for use with the blow forming machine for producing a blow molded article and each having gas vent holes with a diameter of 100 νm or less and at a pitch of 50 νm or less, and a means for introducing a coolant into the parison formed through the molds and discharging it from the parison.

The invention relates to a method and a device for producing a hollow body (7), especially a heat-resistant hollow body, which is shaped from a heated preform from a thermoplastic material in a contoured blow mold (2). For this purpose, a first medium is fed to the preform, said medium being stored in a first medium reservoir (32) and being subject to a pressure p1 (pre-blow phase). At approximately the same time the hollow body is stretched by means of a stretching rod (6) and a second medium is fed to the hollow body, said medium being stored in a second medium reservoir (33) and having a pressure p2 which is higher than p1 (final blow phase). The hollow body is shaped by said second medium and cooled by a third medium which is stored in a third medium reservoir (rinse phase). The pre-blow medium is maintained at a pressure of 2-20 bar, the final blow medium at a pressure of 15-45 bar and the cooling medium at a pressure of 30-45 bar.

The PET containers produced by the method have an average sidewall crystallinity greater than about 30 %, which allows the PET container to maintain its material integrity during any subsequent pasteurization or retort process of the contents in the PET container, and during shipment of the PET container.

A method for producing a hollow molded article having a skin material comprises steps of: (a) providing a skin material between a first mold and a second mold which are in an open state; (b) supplying a molten thermoplastic resin between the first mold and the second mold; (c) closing the first mold and the second mold; (d) inserting a first hollow pin into the molten thermoplastic resin and supplying a gas into the resin through the first hollow pin to form a hollow part; (e) inserting a second hollow pin into said hollow part and supplying the gas through the first hollow pin while discharging the gas through the second hollow pin, thereby to circulate the gas in the hollow part to cool and solidify the molten thermoplastic resin; and (f) opening the first mold and the second mold and taking out the hollow molded article. A hollow molded article with a skin material can be efficiently cooled by means of a simple apparatus and operation without using a complicated apparatus or a special cooling material. Further, a hollow resin molded article having a skin material can be uniformly cooled in a short time without temporarily reducing the pressure in the hollow part and, therefore, a hollow molded article with a skin material free from distortion can be obtained.
