摘要: A spin valve reproducing head for use in a hard disk drive unit has a narrow track width and high stability. The spin valve reproducing head comprises: a base layer (30); a magnetoresistance effect film having a magnetic sensing section; biasing sections formed on both sides of the magnetoresistance effect film; terminal sections; an insulating layer (24) covering said members; and an upper shielding layer (25) formed on the insulating layer (24). The magnetoresistance effect film includes a fixed magnetic layer (32), a non-magnetic layer (33) and a free magnetic layer (34) piled in that order. And a non-magnetic electric conductive layer (35), whose resistivity is lower than that of the free magnetic layer (34), and an etching stop layer (36), whose sputtering rate is higher than that of tantalum and lower than that of copper, are piled on the free magnetic layer (34) in that order.

摘要: A magnetic recording medium and method for forming the magnetic recording medium are described. The magnetic recording medium includes a magnetic layer formed on a non-magnetic support, and a lubricant layer over the magnetic layer. The lubricant layer includes a compound selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbyl-substituted cyclopentanes, hydrocarbyl-substituted cyclopentenes, hydrocarbyl-substituted cyclopentadienes, and mixtures or derivatives thereof and, optionally, one or more additives. The lubricant layer also may be used on a magnetic head for reading and writing information on a magnetic recording medium. The magnetic recording medium and the magnetic head may be used to manufacture computer disk drives, compact disk drives, audio equipment, and video equipment.

摘要: The invention relates to a ceramic laminated composite having at least one solid-electrolyte layer (11), an electric resistance strip (20), which is embedded in an insulation while running in a, in particular, meandering manner, and two electric supply strips (24, 25) leading to the resistance strip (20). In order to reduce the risk of the formation of cracks in the insulation, the resistance strip (20) is made of a material having a specific ohmic resistance greater than that of the material of the supply strips (24, 25) and has, with a small strip thickness, a largest possible width.

摘要: Tolerances for manufacturing reader structures for transducer heads continue to grow smaller and storage density in corresponding storage media increases. Reader stop layers may be utilized during manufacturing of reader structures to protect various layers of the reader structure from recession and/or scratches while processing other non-protected layers of the reader structure. For example, the stop layer may have a very low polish rate during mechanical or chemical-mechanical polishing. Surrounding areas may be significantly polished while a structure protected by a stop layer with a very low polish rate is substantially unaffected. The stop layer may then be removed via etching, for example, after the mechanical or chemical-mechanical polishing is completed.
