There is also disclosed a mercury-dispensing device (10) containing said combination of materials A and B, possibly with a getter material C selected among Ti, Zr, Ta, Nb, V and mixtures thereof, or alloys of these metals with Ni, Fe or Al, preferably in the form of powders compressed as a tablet (10), or contained in a ring-shaped metallic support (21), or rolled on the surfaces of a metallic strip (31). There is also disclosed a process for introducing mercury, into the electron tubes where it is required, by making use of the above-mentioned mercury-dispensing devices (10,20,30).

Provided is an image display apparatus including: a vacuum container having an electron source enclosed therein for displaying an image; an ion pump communicating with the vacuum container for discharging air therefrom and decreasing pressure therein; and a resistor connected in series with the ion pump with respect to a power supply for driving the ion pump. Even if internal resistance of the ion pump undergoes order-of-magnitude changes according to its operating state, current consumption can be suppressed and the ion pump can be driven efficiently.

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine Vorrichtung zur Druckkonstanthaltung in Gasentladungsgefäßen, insbesondere für flache Plasmabildschirme mit Elektronennachbeschleunigung. Für das Gasentladungsgefäß soll eine Vorrichtung geschaffen werden, in der der Gasdruck konstant gehalten wird. Die Erfindung sieht hierzu vor, daß im Gasentladungsgefäß ein vorzugsweise mit Helium gefüllter Glasbehälter (1) angebracht ist, der zur Temperatursteuerung und damit variablen Gasdurchlässigkeit mit einer Heizung (2) versehen ist. Eine erfindungsgemäße Vorrichtung findet insbesondere für flache Plasmabildschirme Verwendung.
