Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide granular solid wax particles that can be shipped in bulk in the hold of a large transport vessel.SOLUTION: This granular solid wax particle comprises highly paraffinic wax having a low T10 boiling point lower than 427°C and an inorganic powder coating, optionally with a layer of higher boiling wax over the highly paraffinic wax having a low T10 boiling point and an inorganic powder coating over the layer of higher boiling wax. In separate embodiments, the highly paraffinic wax having a T10 boiling point lower than 427°C or the highly paraffinic wax having a needle penetration value greater than 3 mm/10 at 25°C is coated with a powder that adsorbs the wax without being encapsulated by the wax in a hot drop test. Also a method for transporting highly paraffinic wax having a T10 boiling point lower than 427°C as granular solid wax particles, and a method for making base oil from granular solid wax particles transported from a distant location are provided.
Abstract:
According to the invention there is provided a liquid friction control composition characterized as either having a high and positive friction characteristic or a low and neutral friction characteristic, comprising a retentivity agent. The liquid friction control composition may also comprise other components such as a solid lubricant, a wetting agent, a consistency modifier, and a preservative. The liquid friction control compositions may be used to modify the interfacial friction characteristics in sliding and rolling-sliding contact such as steel wheel-rail systems including mass transit and freight systems.
Abstract:
A lubricating grease composed of a base oil combination comprising 10 to 35% of one or more poly alpha-olefins, 3 to 15% of one or more synthetic organic esters, 20 to 30% of one or more naphthenic oils, the remainder of the combination being one or more paraffinic oils, the percentages being by weight of the total base oil combination and the ratio of the weight of the ester(s) in the combination to the weight of the poly alpha-olefin(s) therein being not greater than 1:3; between 2 and 15 % by weight of the total grease of a lithium soap thickener, between 1 and 5% by weight of the total grease of a molybdenum dithiophospbate; between 1 and 5% by weight of the total grease of a zinc dialkyldithiophosphate; between 1 and 5% by weight of the total grease of a sulphur-free friction modifier, and some or all of the normal grease additives such as anti-oxidants, corrosion inhibitors, extreme pressure additives and tackiness agents.
Abstract:
A metal-working water or a metal-working composition which has excellent cooling and lubricating properties and does not exert a harmful influence on the environment. A metal-working water containing sodium ion and one or more kinds selected from the group consisting of fluoride ion, hydrogencarbonate ion and silicon and being adjusted to pH 6.0 to pH 10 can be used as a substitute for a conventional cutting oil. A metal-working composition including a metal-working water with such additive as a rust-preventive agent and being adjusted to pH 6.0 to pH 10 can also be used.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear part including a lubrication coating whose lubrication properties can be maintained over a long period of time. SOLUTION: In the gear part in which a lubrication coating is formed on the surface for improving initial fitness when tooth surfaces are engaged with each other, the lubrication coating contains an organophosphorus compound which can be transferred to the tooth surface of the counter member to be engaged by the engagement between the tooth surfaces. The lubrication coating can be formed by sticking a water base lubricant composition containing an alkyl phosphoric acid derivative expressed by chemical formula 1 as an organophosphorus compound, one or more kinds of inorganic salts selected from the group consisting of an inorganic phosphate, an inorganic borate and an inorganic silicate and water to the surface of the gear part and evaporating the water. Abstract:
Silicone grease compositions are prepared by blending a thickening agent with a liquified crosslinked organosiloxane gel produced using a platinum-catalyzed hydrosilylation reaction. The gel is liquified by application of a shearing force to the crosslinked gel. The shearing force can be applied prior to and/or during blending of the gel with the thickener.
