PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new material and a mixture of materials of an organic electronic component such as an electroluminescent element, and use thereof in a display based thereon.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a new mixture consisting of at least two materials, one material being used as a matrix material (for example, spirobifluorene represented by the figure) and the other as a material which is capable of emission and contains at least one element of an atomic number of 20 or larger. The mixture is used in the organic electronic component such as an electroluminescent element and a display.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminescent material having high light emission efficiency and a long light emission life that is used for an organic EL element. SOLUTION: The luminescent material for organic EL is a metal salen complex compound, for example, a N, N'-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine metal complex represented by the formula below, wherein the metal M is Fe, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Mo, Ru, Rh, Pd, W, Re, Os, Ir, Pt, Nd, Sm, Eu or Gd. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mediate the catalyst activity of a catalyst system used for carbonylation of epoxides by modifying a cation thereof, and to provide a new approach by the use of a cationic Lewis acid as a cation in the catalyst system. SOLUTION: Epoxides, aziridines, thiiranes, oxetanes, lactones, lactams and analogous compounds are reacted with carbon monoxide in the presence of a catalytically effective amount of a catalyst having following general formula: [Lewis acid] z+ ä[QM(CO) x ] w- } y (wherein, Q is any ligand and need not be present; M is a transition metal selected from the group consisting of transition metals of groups 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 of the periodic table of elements; z is the valence of the Lewis acid, and ranges from 1 to 6; w is the charge of the metal carbonyl and ranges from 1 to 4, and usually is 1; y is a number such that w times y equals z; and x is a number such as to provide a stable anionic metal carbonyl for ä[QM(CO) x ] w- } y and ranges from 1 to 9 and typically from 1 to 4). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new transition metal compound, an olefin polymerization catalyst containing the transition metal compound excellent in olefin polymerization activity and copolymerizability in conducting copolymerization, and a method for producing a polyolefin in the presence of the catalyst.SOLUTION: The transition metal compound is represented by the formula. The olefin polymerization catalyst contains the transition metal compound and preferably includes at least one compound selected from an organometallic compound, an organoaluminumoxy compound, and a compound which reacts with the transition metal compound to form an ion pair. The method for producing a polyolefin is conducted by polymerizing an olefin in the presence of the catalyst.
