Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reaction method of selectively producing an internal ring-opened product (a primary homo homoallyl alcohol such as 2-phenylpent-4-en-1-ol) by a ring opening reaction of an epoxide. SOLUTION: An internal ring-opened product 3 is selectively produced by subjecting styrene oxide to an ring opening reaction of an epoxide using an indium catalyst comprising two species of indium compounds [indium trichloride and indium tri(hexamethyldisilazide)] and allyl boronate as a nucleophilic agent, according to the reaction formula shown herein.
