    摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for directly extracting microbial or unicellular oils containing one or more polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and the like from microbial cells without the need of a solvent.SOLUTION: After fermentation, microbial cells are pasteurised and washed, and the cell walls are lysed or disrupted by a mechanical (e.g. homogenization), physical (boiling or drying), chemical (solvents) or enzymatic (cell wall degrading enzymes) technique. The oil (containing the PUFA) is then separated from the resulting cell wall debris. This is achieved by centrifugation, which results in an oily phase (top layer) that contains the oil. The oily phase is separated from an aqueous phase (containing the cell wall debris). The oil is then extracted and if necessary the PUFA is purified or isolated from the oil.

    摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for purifying a lipid composition having predominantly neutral lipid components having at least one long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid.SOLUTION: The process includes contacting the lipid composition with a polar solvent, such as acetone, wherein the solvent is selected such that contaminants are less soluble in the solvent than in the long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid. The contact process is typically conducted at cooler temperatures, including about 0°C. Upon precipitation of the contaminants from the lipid composition, a separation is conducted to remove the precipitated material from the lipid composition. The long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids can include ARA, DPA, EPA, and/or DHA. The process effectively winterizes lipid compositions, thereby reducing the tendency of such compositions to become hazy.
