CONSTITUTION:The condensation reaction of a compound of formulaI(R , R are H, lower alkyl, cycloalkyl; R is lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, aryl, where two among R -R may incorporate to form a ring) with another compound of formula II (R is lower alkyl, H; Z , Z are halogen) is carried out in the presence of a base such as a combination of an alkali metal hydroxide and a phase-transfer catalyst at 0-80 deg.C to give a compound of formula III. Then, the product is heated at 150-250 deg.C to effect Coperearrangement to give the compound of formula IV. EFFECT:A compound of formula III is obtained with relative ease. USE:Perfumes, antibacterial and synthetic intermediate of these chemicals and drugs.
