    摘要： A telephone-answering device of the type utilizing a shifting position playback and recording head, wherein the head is urged through movement by an expanding member, such as a spring, which in each operating interval is expanded a prescribed extent effective to cause a theoretical maximum extent of movement in such head, but wherein usual operation contemplates the limiting of head movement to selected lesser extents than said theoretical maximum to thereby provide plural recording positions for the head. The difference between theoretical and actual head movement is readily allowed for by expansion of the spring.

    摘要： A device connected between a telephone line and its associated local telephone for coupling an answering or recording machine therebetween. The device includes a voltage sensing member connected in series between one standard circuitry terminal of the telephone line and its associated local telephone terminal to prohibit the transmission of voice or other audible communications from the local telephone when a telephone call is made thereto. The device also includes a ringing sensor connected to the telephone line for activating the answering machine, and a coupling switch which is moved into a closed position by the energizing of the answering machine to close the telephone line circuit loop. A line transformer is disposed in series with the coupling switch to provide a signal path to the answering machine for the recording of information from the telephone line when the coupling switch is closed. A branch line is preferably disposed in series with the associated telephone terminals and in a parallel arrangement with the voltage sensing member to permit reception of audible signals or communications from the receiver of the local telephone.

    摘要： A system is described for buying materials or services by transferring funds in a bank from the buyer''s deposit account to the seller''s account. The transfer of funds is accomplished by means of a ''''touch-tone'''' telephone receiving set equipped with a printing means. A computer at the bank receives digital orders from the receiving set and records the transfer at that location. Each purchaser is provided with a secret purchaser number on a telephone operating card and the entire operation is performed in the presence of the purchaser and a representative of the seller or store. A ticket is carried by the printing means to receive a message from the bank representing the transaction.

    摘要： A telephone-answering device with a control transistor for controlling drive motor operation and transistor flip-flop circuitry for controlling the shift from the prerecorded announcement phase to an incoming message record phase to a standby phase. The transistor flip-flop circuitry includes a photocell and a light source between which the prerecorded announcement endless tape travels. The first shift to the incoming message record phase is controlled by the flip-flop circuitry being set to a first state by the energization of the photocell by light passing thru the endless tape. Subsequently light again reaches the photocell thru the endless tape to energize the photocell a second time. This second energization causes the flip-flop circuitry to be set a second state to cut off the control transistor to stop drive motor operation and to return the device to standby.

    摘要： A coding device for energizing a desired article comprising a stepping member associated with manually movable switching members of a code selection portion of the coding device for determining a code sequence of a sound and silent periods or intervals. A sound sensing portion activates a switch element of the code selection portion when a sound is transmitted thereto, so that the switch element is in a cooperating relationship with one of the switching members when a proper code is received, to provide connection with a closable element. A tone operated portion closes the closable element upon transmission of a tone to complete a circuit only after a proper code has been received. Each completion of the circuit activates the stepping member to move, in sequence after each proper code, until a position for closing another circuit which energizes the desired article is obtained. Preferably, the coding device is for a telephone answering device and is used to activate a play back switching member of a conventional message tape drive apparatus to rewind and play back a recorded message.
