An example apparatus includes memory, instructions in the apparatus, and processor circuitry to execute the instructions to decrypt a first message received from a first radio of an aircraft, the first radio using a first communication protocol, the aircraft including a second radio to be configured for a second communication protocol different from the first communication protocol, and, in response to a determination that the first message includes radio configuration information associated with the second radio, configure a third radio to transmit a second message to the second radio based on the radio configuration information.

    Abstract: A jet valve includes a valve body, a juncture operatively coupled to the valve body. The juncture having a first fluid connection fluidly coupled to a header tank and a second connection fluidly coupled to a storage tank. A spool is movably disposed within the valve body. A jet pump is fluidly coupled to a fuel pump of the header tank via a bleed line. Operation of the fuel pump pressurizes the bleed line and moves the spool to a first position to (i) close a first fluid path between the header tank and the storage tank and (ii) provide a second fluid path between the header tank and the storage tank, the second fluid path through the aperture. Depressurization of the bleed line enables the spring to move the spool to a second position to close the second fluid path and open the first fluid path.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods for controlling unmanned systems (UMSs), such as unmanned aircraft, are provided. A UMS can include core systems, auxiliary systems, a payload, a physical computer, a network, and a power system. The network can enable the physical computer to communicate with the auxiliary systems using a second communications tier and with the payload using a third communications tier. The network and the physical computer can logically separate the second and third communications tiers. The power system can provide a first, second, and third power domains respectively for the core systems, the auxiliary systems, and for the payload. The power system can include circuitry that inhibits an overcurrent fault in the third power domain from causing an electrical fault in the first and second power domains and that inhibits an overcurrent fault in the second power domain from causing an electrical fault in the first power domain.

    Abstract: Delivery systems for aerial vehicles include a plurality of securement straps configured to secure a package during flight of an aerial vehicle, at least one retaining strap, and a release mechanism. A proximal end region of each securement strap and a first end region of the at least one retaining strap are coupled to the aerial vehicle. A distal end region of each securement strap is coupled to the release mechanism such that when the release mechanism is actuated the release mechanism releases the distal end region of at least one securement strap of the plurality of securement straps, thereby delivering the package. The release mechanism remains coupled to a second end region of the at least one retaining strap when the release mechanism is actuated such that the securement straps, release mechanism, and retaining strap all may be pulled up and away from the package after delivery.

    Abstract: A method for detecting change in a pair of sequential images. The method includes training a feature descriptor based on a generated training set of matching and non-matching image pairs. An imaging subsystem captures a pair of substantially sequential images of a field of view. The pair of captured images is aligned and then transformed into corresponding arrays of patches. A matching and non-matching probability is determined for each pair of adjacent patches based on the feature descriptor. Each pair of patches is classified as matching or non-matching based on a comparison of the matching and non-matching probability. A mask is generated identifying the pairs of patches that indicate change and then displayed overlaid on at least one of the sequential images to indicate change on a user interface.
