Abstract: Re-folded human serum albumin (rfHSA) and use thereof for anti-tumor are disclosed. The rfHSA comprises the primary amino acid sequence of naive human serum albumin, in which the rfHSA in a solution is oval shape, not fibrillar, and the naive HSA is globular. The rfHSA is used for treating cancer or a tumor in a subject in need thereof The rfHSA may also be used as a reagent for detecting the presence of a cancer cell associated with integrin β1 or serine/threonine protein kinase Akt and extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) in a tumor sample or as a reagent for inhibiting phosphorylation of Akt and ERK 1/2 in a cancer cell sample. A cell lysate of a cancer cell treated with rfHSA, a vaccine composition comprising the cancer cell lysate, and use thereof are also disclosed. Also disclosed is a method tor preparing rfHSA.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of enhancing the accuracy and/or sensitivity of ultrasound imaging in detecting a tumor in a subject. The method comprises administering to the subject an effective amount of a nanoparticle prior to the application of ultrasound to the subject. According to certain embodiments of the present disclosure, the nanoparticle is a magnetic nanoparticle, for example, a gold, silver, or iron oxide nanoparticle. Also disclosed herein are methods of treating a tumor in a subject by detecting the tumor via ultrasound with the aid of a nanoparticle, and then administering to the subject an anti-cancer treatment based on the location of the tumor revealed by the ultrasound image.

Abstract: Provided herein is a method for treating a subject afflicted with a metastatic cancer. The method includes, administering to the subject an effective amount of an agent capable of suppressing the expression of a nucleic of EF-hand domain-containing protein D2 (EFHD2) or a polypeptide encoded by the nucleic acid in the metastatic cancer of the subject. The agent may be a 2-aryl propionic acid (2-APA) compound, or a short hairpin ribonucleic acid (shRNA) that directs cleavage of EFHD2 gene RNA via RNA interference. Also provided herein is a method for detecting and/or diagnosing whether a subject having a metastatic cancer via a biological sample of the subject. The method includes steps of, measuring the level of EFHD2 nucleic acid or polypeptide in the biological sample; and comparing the amount of the EFHD2 nucleic acid or polypeptide present in the biological sample with that of a healthy subject; in which an elevated amount of EFHD2 nucleic acid or polypeptide in the biological sample relative to that of a healthy subject indicates that the cancer of the subject is likely to metastasize.

The glycopeptide is fragmented by higher energy collision dissociation fragmentation, and sequentially fragmented by collision induced dissociation fragmentation. The glycopeptide Y1 ion is isolated, and the mass spectra of fragmented glycopeptide Y1 ions provide mass spectral peaks corresponding to the amino acid sequence of the glycopeptide.
