Abstract: An intake system for an engine includes an intake manifold having a surge tank room and branch passages, and a water-cooling type cooler having a first cooling unit and second cooling units. The surge tank room is disposed on a downstream side of a supercharger in a flow direction of intake air. Supercharged intake air flowing into the surge tank room is distributed among intake ports respectively through the branch passages. The first cooling unit is inserted in the surge tank room, and cools supercharged intake air which has flowed into the intake manifold through heat exchange between supercharged intake air and coolant flowing in the first cooling unit. The second cooling units are inserted respectively in the intake ports, and cool internal EGR gas, which has been recirculated into their corresponding intake ports, through heat exchange between internal EGR gas and coolant flowing in the second cooling units.

Abstract: A cooling water control valve device includes a housing and a valve. The housing includes an inside space, an attachment surface, at least one inlet port, and at least one outlet port. The attachment surface is in contact with an outer wall of the engine. The valve is disposed in the inside space to control communication between the at least one inlet port and the at least one outlet port by rotating. The housing includes a housing body that defines the inside space therein and a bypass passage forming member that defines at least a portion of a bypass passage. The bypass passage bypasses the valve and fluidly connects the at least one inlet port and the inside space. The housing is attached to the engine such that the attachment surface comes into contact with the outer wall of the engine.

Abstract: A resonator has a volume chamber, which is communicated with a surge tank through a communication passage. A primary intake passage communicates between a cylinder of an internal combustion engine and the surge tank. A secondary intake passage communicates between the surge tank and one of the cylinder and the primary intake passage. A passage length of the secondary intake passage is shorter than a passage length of the primary intake passage. A variable intake valve is fixed to a shaft. The variable intake valve opens and closes the secondary intake passage. A resonator valve is fixed to the shaft. The resonator valve opens and closes the communication passage. A drive device rotates the shaft to drive the variable intake valve and the resonator valve.

Abstract: A case is connected between an outlet side of a turbocharger and an intake port of an engine. A cooling passage and a bypass passage are partitioned in the case to split intake air into two flows. A storage unit is formed in a bottom portion of the case to accumulate liquid. The cooling passage is located along a gravity direction to flow intake air from a lower side to an upper side. The bypass passage flows intake air to bypass the cooling passage. A valve controls opening of the cooling passage and the bypass passage on an inlet side or on an outlet side. The valve opens the bypass passage to forcedly supply at least a part of intake air, which is drawn into the case, through the storage unit and the bypass passage into the intake port.
