Abstract:
A method and system for optically detecting a user. A sequence of patterns of radiation reflected from an object in a room may be captured by a device. The patterns of radiation may be infrared radiation emitted from the device. A sequence of variations between the captured sequence of patterns of radiation and the emitted sequence of patterns of radiation may be determined and object characteristics of an object may be determined based upon the sequence of variations. The object characteristics may be a sequence of dimensions of the object and a sequence of locations of the object. The method may determine the first is a user based upon the determined object characteristics and a room profile. The room profile may include a plurality of object characteristics of one or more objects in the room.
Abstract:
A system and method for detecting human intruders while rejecting/ignoring an occupant's registered pet. An object detection system is configured to detect an object that is present in a monitored area and generate a signal output relative to the type of object. A signature processor is configured to receive the generated signal output and produce an object signature, and compare a threshold signature to the object signature, wherein the threshold signature is generated using a photograph of a reserved object, and wherein the object detection system rejects the detected object when the object signature is determined to be similar to the threshold signatures.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of using active infrared (AIR) sensors to map a room of a home or building and determine whether an external portal (e.g., window and/or door) of the room is open or closed are provided. In particular, the systems and methods include outputting infrared (IR) light from an IR light source of an active infrared (AIR) sensor, receiving reflected IR light with a light sensor, and determining, with a processor coupled to the light sensor, whether a window of a room is open according to the received reflected IR light.
Abstract:
A system includes a plurality of sensing devices disposed at a premises, the sensing devices being configured to generate data based on activity detected at one or more openings in the premises and to transmit the data, a plurality of speakers dispersed at the premises, a memory configured to store output profiles corresponding to a plurality of respective events and to store a plurality of respective sounds, and a processor configured to identify an event based on the transmitted data and to execute a stored output profile assigned to the event, the execution including automatically playing a stored sound through one or more of the speakers in accordance with the selected output profile.
Abstract:
A method of controlling a security system of a premises includes detecting one or more exceptions when the system is set to an alarm mode, determining whether any of the one or more exceptions is a terminal exception, automatically executing an arming procedure according to the alarm mode when all of the exceptions are determined to be non-terminal exceptions, preventing execution of the arming procedure when any of the exceptions are determined to be a terminal exception, and, while in the alarm mode, preventing a sensor associated with a security exception from triggering an alarm when the security exception is fully corrected, and triggering an alarm when a condition that is causing the security exception is adjusted without resulting in full correction of the security exception.
Abstract:
A system includes a plurality of sensors installed at a premises to capture data from an environment, a memory configured to store data captured over at least a first period of time, and a processor configured to determine, based on the stored captured data, an estimate travel time for a user to enter the premises and disarm an alarm system installed in the premises, and to set an entry allowance of the alarm system to the estimate travel time when one or more of the plurality of sensors detects an entry into the premises.
Abstract:
Hazard detection systems and methods according to embodiments described herein are operative to enable a user to interface with the hazard detection system by performing a touchless gesture. The touchless gesture can be performed in a vicinity of the hazard detection system without requiring physical access to the hazard detection system. This enables the user to interact with the hazard detection system even if it is out of reach. The hazard detection system can detect gestures and perform an appropriate action responsive to the detected gesture. In one embodiment, the hazard detection system can silence its audible alarm or pre-emptively turn off its audible alarm in response to a detected gesture. Gestures can be detected by processing sensor data to determine whether periodic shapes are detected.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of the disclosed embodiments provide a sensor to detect a side from which a door or window is being opened, and a controller communicatively coupled to the sensor to determine the side from which the door or window is being opened, and to generate a security exception based on the determination of the side from which the door or window is being opened.
Abstract:
Systems and techniques are provided for guided installation feedback for an opening sensor. Detected magnetic field strengths of a magnetic field created by a magnet of an opening sensor as detected by a magnetometer sensor of the opening sensor may be received over a time period. It may be determined that there has been a change in the strength of the magnetic field created by the magnet as detected by the magnetometer sensor based on the received detected magnetic field strengths. Accelerometer data from an accelerometer disposed in the magnetometer sensor may be received. It may be determined from the accelerometer data that the magnetometer sensor was not moving and positive feedback may be provided to an installer of the opening sensor, or it may be determined from the accelerometer data that the magnetometer sensor was moving and negative feedback may be provided to the installer of the opening sensor.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the disclosed subject matter provide systems and methods of adaptively adjusting sensitivity of a sensor of a security system that provide a first sensor to detect a motion event of a door or window of a building, and a controller communicatively coupled to the first sensor, to determine whether the detected motion event is a human-caused motion event or a periodic motion event by a comparison between data of the detected motion event and stored motion data, and to generate a security exception when the detected motion event is determined to be a periodic motion event, where the controller adaptively adjusts a sensitivity of the first sensor to detect the motion event according to data aggregated by the first sensor over a predetermined period of time.
