Abstract:
An example technique may include determining, by a first base station in a wireless network, a user device has transitioned from an active state to an idle state, determining, by the first base station, a list of base stations and a list of cells corresponding to the list of base stations representing a tracking area for the user device based on a signal received from at least one second base station, the signal received from the at least one second base station including an indication of an amount of activity on at least one boundary between the at least one second base station and a plurality of third base stations, and controlling sending, from the first base station to the user device, a signal including at least one of the list of base stations and the list of cells as a tracking area for the user device.
Abstract:
Various communication systems may benefit from mechanisms for access-based communications. For example, machine-type communication in long term evolution (LTE) communication systems may benefit from a mechanism for user equipment access-based machine-to-machine communication. A method can include a user equipment entering a transaction state. The method can also include suspending reception of paging messages during an idle period of the transaction state.
Abstract:
A technique including determining that a first access node serving a communication device is currently in a dormant, first state in which said first access node is not receiving radio transmissions; and controlling a radio transmitter or radio transceiver at said communication device to transmit a radio signal that triggers at least one second access node to alert said first access node of a request for said first access node to switch from said first state to a second state in which said first access node receives radio transmissions.
Abstract:
Various communication systems may benefit from the proper use of control channel resources. For example, certain communication systems associated with the long tem evolution of the third generation partnership project may benefit from physical downlink control channel transmission improvement for paging message coverage enhancement. A method can include obtaining a coverage enhancement paging parameter at a user equipment. The method can also include calculating, by the user equipment, a paging frame or paging occasion according to the paging parameter. In another example, a method can include receiving, at a user equipment, a coverage enhancement paging radio network temporary identifier for use in coverage enhancement mode. The method can also include decoding a physical downlink control channel based on the coverage enhancement paging radio network temporary identifier.
Abstract:
An example technique is provided that includes establishing a multi-cell communication session for a user device, the multi-cell communication session including a plurality of wireless connections that include a wireless connection between the user device and each of a plurality of cells in a same frequency layer, wherein the plurality of cells are used to transmit data to or receive data from the user device using a coordinated multi-cell communication technique, and performing, by the user device, communication session failure detection for the multi-cell communication session taking into account signal gains provided by the coordinated multi-cell communication technique.
Abstract:
A method including defining at least one extended modification period; determining a system information change; generating at least one paging message indicator based on the paging message occurring within the at least one extended modification period.
Abstract:
A technique including deciding at a communication device between different types of signalling procedure for a data transmission to a network, based on one or more rules outside the control of the communication device; wherein said different types of signalling procedure have different signalling overhead profiles.
Abstract:
There are provided measures for enabling/realizing more efficient radio link problem handling in a mobile communication system. Such measures exemplarily comprise detecting a radio problem of a radio link carrying a network connection of a communication device, and initiating a recovery procedure for recovering the connection on said radio link and a re-establishment procedure for re-establishing the connection on an alternative radio link, upon detection of the radio link problem, before a radio link failure of said radio link is declared.
