Abstract: Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for obtaining blood pressure measurements are presented. The blood pressure measurements may be obtained by determining a pulse-transit time (PTT) as a function of a photoplethysmography (PPG) measurement and electrocardiogram (ECG) measurement. A mobile device includes outer body sized to be portable for a user of the mobile device. The mobile device also includes a plurality of light emitting components distributed along at least one portion of the mobile device and a plurality of light collecting components configured to measure reflected light from the plurality of light emitting components reflected off of blood vessels within the user. The light emitting and light collecting components are distributed along the at least one portion of the mobile device. The mobile device may also include a light guide configured to direct light emitted by the at least one light emitting component toward blood vessels with the user.

A mobile device includes an outer body sized to be portable for user, a processor contained within the outer body, and a plurality of sensors physically coupled to the outer body. The sensors are configured to obtain a first measurement indicative of blood volume and a second measurement indicative of heart electrical activity in response to a user action. A blood pressure measurement is determined based on the first measurement and the second measurement. The sensors also include electrodes where a portion of a user's body positioned between the electrodes completes a circuit and a measurement to provide at least one measure of impedance associated with the user's body. A hydration level measurement is determined based on the measure of impedance.

Abstract: Disclosed embodiments pertain to the measurement of heart rate in the presence of motion and noise. Spectral peaks in measurements by an optical sensor are compared with spectral peaks obtained from a motion sensor signal measurements, to obtain a fundamental frequency in the optical sensor signal, where the fundamental frequency is associated with a user's heart rate. A first heart rate may be estimated based on the fundamental frequency. A variety of quality metrics may be determined for the first heart rate estimate. A second estimated heart rate may be determined based by processing a frequency domain representation of the optical sensor signal based on a frequency domain representation of the motion sensor signal. One or more of the previously determined quality metrics may be dynamically adjusted based on a comparison of first and second estimated heart rates.

Abstract: Techniques described herein enable a mobile multifunction device to detect a disposable sensor card at an interface coupled to the mobile multifunction device, wherein the disposable sensor card is mounted inside an opening in the mobile multifunction device, detect analog information associated with the disposable sensor card, and convert analog information to digital information. Detecting analog information comprises detecting a non-transient change in at least a portion of the disposable sensor card, wherein at least a portion of the first disposable sensor card changes form in response to exposure to one or more stimuli from an environment of the first disposable sensor card. A non-transient change may include one or more of changing color, changing shape, changing chemical composition or changing electrical characteristics. Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for micro actuators are presented. In some embodiments, a micro actuator can comprise a substrate coupled to an actuation member. A corrugating portion of the substrate in a first state can be uncontracted to form a substantially planar surface and in a second state can be contracted along a dimension parallel to the planar surface. The actuation member can be at least partially rigid. The micro actuator can be configured to move the actuation member relative to the corrugating portion upon a change in state of the corrugating portion. At least a layer of the substrate can be unitary and the actuation member can include at least a portion of the layer. The substrate can comprise a conducting polymer film.
