摘要: Catheters including an elongated shaft defining a lumen along a longitudinal axis and having a distal portion are disclosed. The elongated shaft includes a longitudinally extending inner member defining the lumen, a support member disposed on the longitudinally extending inner member, and a reinforcement member. The support member includes a proximal portion and a distal portion separated by a breakout section. The reinforcement member is disposed on the breakout section and having a reinforcement proximal end and a reinforcement distal end, the reinforcement proximal end coupled to the proximal portion and the reinforcement distal end coupled to the distal portion. An elongated tube extends along the shaft. The tube extends longitudinally along the proximal braided member radially underneath the proximal braided member, extends longitudinally on the outer surface along the distal braided member, and extends from underneath the proximal braided member to the outer surface at the breakout section.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method, device, and system for improved mapping and/or ablation of a tissue. The device may generally include an elongate body and a distal assembly affixed to the elongate body that includes a treatment electrode having a conductive mapping region and a selectively conductive ablation region that is conductive of high-frequency current and substantially non-conductive of low-frequency current. Alternatively, the device may generally include a treatment electrode having a conductive mapping or ablation region and a region that is coated with an electrically insulated but thermally conductive layer.

摘要: At the present time, physicians often treat patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) using radiofrequency (RF) catheter systems to ablate conducting tissue in the wall of the Left Atrium of the heart around the ostium of the pulmonary veins. These systems are expensive and take time consuming to use. The present invention circular ablation system CAS includes a multiplicity of expandable needles that can be expanded around a central axis and positioned to inject a fluid like ethanol to ablate conductive tissue in a ring around the ostium of a pulmonary vein quickly and without the need for expensive capital equipment. The expansion of the needles is accomplished by self-expanding or balloon expandable structures. The invention includes centering means so that the needles will be situated in a pattern surrounding the outside of the ostium of a vein. Also included are members that limit the distance of penetration of the needles into the wall of the left atrium, or the aortic wall. The present invention also has an important application to ablate tissue around the ostium of one or both renal arteries, for the ablation of the sympathetic nerve fibers and/or other afferent or efferent nerves going to or from each kidney in order to treat hypertension.

摘要: Described herein are improved systems and methods for cellular ionic activity visualization. Specifically, for example, the systems and methods can observe and characterize biological ionic channel activity and subsequently detect, measure or manipulate a biological sample in the field of biological or medical sciences on the cellular level. Such a capability can be implemented across any type of biological cell which possesses ionic channels on the surface or contained within.

摘要: Some embodiments of pacing systems employ wireless electrode assemblies to provide pacing therapy. The wireless electrode assemblies may wirelessly receive energy via an inductive coupling so as to provide electrical stimulation to the surrounding heart tissue. In certain embodiments, the wireless electrode assembly may include one or more biased tines that shift from a first position to a second position to secure the wireless electrode assembly into the inner wall of the heart chamber.

摘要: A graphical representation may be displayed including at least a plurality of transducer graphical elements, each transducer graphical element of the plurality of transducer graphical elements representative of a respective transducer of a plurality of transducers of a transducer-based device. A set of user input may be received including an instruction set to reposition a first transducer graphical element in a state in which the first transducer graphical element is located at a first location in the graphical representation and a second transducer graphical element is located at a second location in the graphical representation, the second location closer to a predetermined location in the graphical representation than the first location. In response to conclusion of receipt of the set of user input, the first transducer graphical element may be repositioned from the first location in the graphical representation to the predetermined location in the graphical representation.

摘要: A system for VT localization comprises an electrocardiograph (ECG) device for detecting electrical signals of a ventricular fibrillation event in a patient and producing ECG data, a localizer, and a display device. The localizer comprises a memory and a processor, the memory storing a model and one or more parameters of the model. The memory further stores instructions that when executed by the processor cause the processor to receive the ECG data, and generate a determination indicating whether a detected VT signal arose from an endocardial surface or epicardial surface based on signal averaged waveform for each of the leads. The display device is configured to output the determination, which can also be communicated to follow-on provider systems.

摘要: Provided are a localization system and method useful in the acquisition and analysis of cardiac information. The localization system and method can be used with systems that perform cardiac mapping, diagnosis and treatment of cardiac abnormalities, as examples, and in the retrieval, processing, and interpretation of such types of information. The localization system and method use high impedance inputs, improved isolation, and relatively high drive currents for pairs of electrodes used to establish a multi-axis coordinate system. The axes can be rotated and scaled to improve localization.

摘要: Methods and systems for combining ablation therapy with navigation of the ablation device. An ablation system may be configured for use with one of two methods to prevent loss of navigation signals during ablation energy delivery. In the first method, ablation energy signals are filtered from the navigation signal. In the second method, the delivery of ablation energy is sequenced with the delivery of navigation energy such that ablation energy and navigation energy are not delivered at the same time and navigation signals received by the system are time-division multiplexed to reconstruct the navigation signals and determine a location of the device within the patient.
