摘要: An improved adaptive equalizer providing the proper amount of equalization to restore the missing frequency components of a received and underequalized waveform. The invention'equalization gain or pulse counting feature can be set at various levels by digitally programming the control logic of the invention. Additionally, the digital control features of the invention permit higher accuracy in determining required equalizations for waveforms and avoid variations, such as temperature process variations, present in analog systems. The invention permits higher accuracy in determining required equalizations for waveforms. The invention finds, holds, and updates the average low frequency peak of the incoming signal in a highly digital manner. Since peak information is digitally held, it is not subject to the data dependent drifts inherent in analog peak detectors. The invention equalizes the signal by continually digitally comparing the high frequency peaks of the incoming transitions to the average low frequency peak and either adding or subtracting frequency components until the high and average low frequency peaks are close to one another. The amount of frequency compensation is a measure of the equalization and is digitally held by the invention and continually updated.

摘要: A method and apparatus for protecting a system from high current flows in its signal lines. A signal line expected to carry radio frequency signal is provided. A thin region is disposed in series with the signal line. The thin region is destroyed in the presence of current above a safety level. Additionally, the thin region is designed to maintain the impedance profile of the signal path at an approximately constant RF impedance or else the impedance discontinuity caused by the thin region is sufficiently narrow such that it falls within an exception window.

摘要: A system is described for controllably ventilating garments such as protective suits and jackets, especially garments which are worn by the occupants or operators of moving vehicles such as motorcycles, bicycles and some aircraft. Vents are provided in the front of the garment for controllably admitting air into the garment by means of flaps or other devices which cover the vents and which can incrementally be removed to control the amount of air entering the garment. Additional vents are provided at the back and sides of the garment to allow the exiting of air and prevent billowing of the garment due to air being trapped inside. The various vents which are provided in the garment are covered with air permeable material such as mesh which advantageously is stretchable to provide greater flexibility to the garment both while it is being worn and to facilitate putting on and taking off. The ventilation system of the invention can be used in conjunction with garments of various configurations and materials including leathers, woven fabrics and waterproof material.

摘要: A sheet handling machine having the dual capability of either collating or sorting sheet material into individual booklets or collations. The machine has a plurality of sheet receiving bins operatively associated with infeed and outfeed locations of the machine, and a conveyor system for moving sheets between the infeed and outfeed locations in a predetermined sequence. The machine includes movable deflectors for deflecting sheets from the conveyor means into the bins, and feeding means located in the bins for feeding sheets from the bins back into the conveyor system. Appropriate controls are provided to cause the deflecting means or the feeding means to be selectively operable in a predetermined sequence. In a sorting mode of operation, successive copies of the first page of a booklet are fed into successive bins until each bin contains one copy. Thereafter, successive copies of each successive page of the booklet are fed into each bin until each bin contains a completed booklet. Thus, as many booklets are simultaneously formed as there are bins. In the collating mode, each bin is automatically loaded with a predetermined number of the same page of the booklet, and a single sheet from each bin is ejected and conveyed to a receiving station to form a single completed booklet.
