    摘要: A flow tube for an induction system with a turbo charger defines a longitudinal flow path and includes a noise attenuation plate positioned within the flow tube. A plurality of ribs formed on an internal surface of the tube. The ribs are spaced apart from one another and are tuned to a desired frequency. The noise attenuation plate includes a plurality of holes having varying diameter and depths. When acoustic energy created by the turbo charger encounters the noise attenuation plate and the ribs, the change in impedance results in acoustic reflections back toward the turbo charger. Thus the noise attenuation plate cooperates with the ribs to serve as a low pass filter that attenuates high frequencies while allowing lower frequencies through.

    摘要: A flow tube for an induction system with a turbo charger includes a first tube half and a second tube half with a noise attenuation plate positioned between the halves. The noise attenuation plate includes a plurality of holes having varying diameters and depths. The first tube half, the second tube half, and the noise attenuation plate are integrally formed as a single piece during an injection molding process. The noise attenuation plate is folding along a first living hinge to overlap one of the first or second tube halves. The other of the first or second tube halves is folded along a second living hinge to overlap the noise attenuation plate forming a flow tube that defines a flow path. The noise attenuation plate serves as a low pass filter that attenuates high frequencies while allowing lower frequencies through.

    摘要: An air induction silencer assembly includes an acoustic interference member disposed within a conduit. The acoustic interference member is tuned to acoustically cancel a selected noise energy frequency. An acoustic absorbing member is also disposed within the conduit. The acoustic absorbing member converts noise energy within the conduit into heat energy to attenuate noise energy within the air induction silencer assembly. The air induction silencer assembly connects to a flexible conduit that includes an inlet portion, an outlet portion, and a flexible joint that connects the inlet portion and the outlet portion together. The flexible joint includes a rolling lobe and a rolling surface. The rolling lobe moves along the rolling surface when the inlet portion moves relative to the outlet portion.

    摘要: An air inlet is mounted adjacent to an actuator and an intake manifold. A valve shaft extending from the actuator to the air inlet rotates the inlet valve from an open position to a closed position, or vice versa. The actuator senses revolutions per minute of an engine to control the inlet valve position. When the inlet valve is in the closed position the amount of oxygen reaching the engine is reduced. The restricted airflow through the air inlet helps to reduce engine noise.

    摘要: An HQ tube arrangement suitable for packaging within a vehicle may be designed by creating a mathematical model representing a tube arrangement having a first passageway and a second passageway fluidly connected to the first passageway at first and second junctions. The second passageway is divided by the junctions into first, second, and third passages. Lengths are associated with each of the first passageway and the first, second, and third passages. A filter parameter, based upon an average transmission loss for a particular frequency over a standard deviation, is analyzed as a function of the lengths. Lengths are chosen based upon analysis of the filter parameter. Portions of the outer walls of the first and second passageways may be secured to or common to one another so that lengths of the passageways run along side of each other to provide a more compact HQ tube arrangement.

    摘要: An air induction assembly includes a tuning tube that is integrally formed with an air duct having a distal tube end extending into a resonance chamber. The air duct includes a shoulder portion that transitions into a base end of the tuning tube. The shoulder portion has a greater diameter than the tuning tube and defines an external duct surface. The resonance chamber includes an opening for receiving the tuning tube. A flange surrounds the opening and defines an external resonance chamber surface. The external resonance chamber surface abuts against the external duct surface to define an attachment interface. The assembly is welded at the attachment interface to securely attach the resonance chamber to the air duct.

    摘要: An air cleaner assembly 10 includes a filter located within a housing 12 between an air inlet 20 and outlet 22 for filtering airflow therebetween. The air inlet 20 extends from the housing 12 to communicate with an air intake port located at a vehicle location where fresh air is available. A resonator device 28 is mounted within the housing 12. The resonator device 12 includes a resonator volume 30 and a tuning neck 32. The resonator volume 30 fits into the housing 12 to reduce bulk and readily lend itself to adaptation to space requirements. The tuning neck 32 is mounted within the outlet 22 such that noise and vibration are communicated directly to the resonator device 28.
