    Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing power consumption in an electronic device are provided. The method includes receiving media content from a server, establishing a control state based on the media content, controlling power of at least one of a communication connection device and a display according to the control state of the received media content, determining whether a reception of the media content is completed, determining whether the electronic device performs functions for playing and controlling a digital media, transitioning a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), when it has been determined that a reception of the media content and that the functions are not performed by the electronic device, to a power save mode, and disconnecting the WLAN, when it has been determined that receiving the media content is completed and that the functions are performed by the electronic device, wherein the electronic device comprises the communication connection device.

    Abstract: An electronic device and a power control method of an electronic device are provided. The electronic device may include: a communication circuit including a first circuit configured to perform first communication and a second circuit configured to perform second communication; a processor electrically connected to the communication circuit; and a memory electrically connected to the processor, wherein, the memory stores instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to perform operations comprising: controlling the first circuit to operate according to a first power control mode associated with the first communication, and controlling the second circuit to operate according to a second power control mode associated with the second communication when the first communication and the second communication are concurrently performed through the first circuit and the second circuit; identifying a first sleep period during which the first circuit operates in a sleep mode according to the first power control mode, and a second sleep period during which the second circuit operates in the sleep mode according to the second power control mode; and controlling the communication circuit to operate in a deep sleep mode in which the communication circuit operates with power that is less than or equal to a predetermined power in a period where the first sleep period and the second sleep period coincide.

The electronic device obtains information for mode switching when the electronic device is connected to an access point based on one of a first mode from among a multiple user multiple input multiple output (MU-MIMO) mode and a single user multiple input multiple output (SU-MIMO) mode; determining whether to switch the mode to a second mode, which is different from the first mode, from among the MU-MIMO mode and the SU-MIMO mode, based on the obtained information for mode switching; and performing wireless data communication with the access point based on the second mode when the electronic device is switched to the second mode.
