These non-spherical fine particles each have a polyhedral general shape with six or more surfaces each of which is formed as a concave surface, satisfying all of the conditions that the average value of the maximum external diameters L1 of the non-spherical fine particles is in the range of 0.1-20 μm, that the ratios between the minimum external diameters L2 and the maximum external diameters L1 of the individual non-spherical fine particles have an average value in the range of 0.60-0.97, and that they have an average number per particle of 6-14 concave surfaces of which the ratio of the maximum diameter m1 with respect to the maximum external diameter L1 is in the range of 0.20-0.90.

Optical diffusive resin compositions are produced by adding organic silicone fine particles having a cross-link structure prepared by a specified process at a specified rate to a polycarbonate or polyacryl polymer material and mixing the particles and the material in a melted condition of the polymer material. The organic silicone fine particles are obtained by generating silanol compounds by using silanol group forming silicides of specified kinds at a specified ratio, obtaining an aqueous suspension by a condensation reaction, thereafter adjusting this aqueous suspension to a specified pH value, and separating the organic silicone particles as a solid component from the pH-adjusted aqueous suspension.

A self-diagnosable fuel-purging system used for a fuel processing system causes a fuel to be introduced into a canister packed with an adsorbent, such as activated carbon, onto which the introduced fuel is adsorbed, and causes the adsorbed fuel to be introduced into an engine when a negative pressure greater than a predetermined value is produced in an intake manifold upstream of a throttle valve. The fuel-purging system includes discriminating means for determining whether or not the fuel-purging system itself is normal on the basis of output signals representative of an air/fuel ratio in an exhaust gas from the engine and a temperature in the canister. The discriminating means determines abnormality of the fuel-purging system when both of the temperature in the canister and the air/fuel ratio are substantially constant while a fuel-purging condition, in which the fuel adsorbed onto the adsorbent in the canister is supplied to the engine, is detected.

Organosilicone fine particles which are capable of responding to the highly advanced requirements of recent years imposed on them for purposes of actual use, including further improvement in optical characteristics such as total light transmittance and haze as well as heat-resistant colorability related to resin compositions, further improvement in usability (extensions and expansions at the time of use) and feeling (stickiness, roughness and durability) related to cosmetic materials and further improvement in matte effect and factual sense related to paint compositions, as well as methods of their production and cosmetic materials, resin compositions and paint compositions containing such particles are provided. Organosilicone fine particles have tetrahedral general shapes with surfaces each having a concave part with an approximately circular opening. The maximum external diameters L of the organosilicone fine particles have an average value in the range of 0.5-20 μm, the average value being taken from arbitrarily selected 20 of a scanning electron microscope photograph image of the organosilicone fine particles.
