    摘要: A method of forming and moving ink drops across a gap between a print head and a print medium, or intermediate print medium, in a marking device includes generating an electric field, forming the ink drops adjacent the print head and controlling the electric field. The electric field is generated to extend across the gap. The ink drops are formed in an area adjacent the print head. The electric field is controlled such that an electrical attraction force exerted on the formed ink drops by the electric field is the greatest force acting on the ink drops. The marking device may be incorporated into a transfuse printing system having an intermediate print medium made of one or more materials that allow for lateral dissipation of electrical charge from the incident ink drops.

The cooling platen absorbs heat from the intermediate transfer member to evaporate a liquid into a gas.     摘要: A reliable non-sliding transfusing assembly is provided for receiving liquid toner images from an image bearing member. The transfusing assembly includes a continuous intermediate transfer belt forming a belt loop and having an inner surface and a toner image carrying outer surface; a first backing roller having a first diameter and mounted into contact with the inner surface of the belt loop for forming a toner image receiving nip between the belt loop and an image bearing member; and a second backing roller mounted oppositely from the first backing roller and into contact with the inner surface of the belt loop for forming a transfusing nip between the belt loop and an external roller. Importantly, the second backing roller consists of a large drive drum for the belt, and has a second diameter many times greater than the first diameter of the first backing roller so as to produce high quality transfused toner images by preventing belt sliding and slippage, as well as image smearing that would other wise result from a relatively small diameter drive roll.

    摘要: A seamless intermediate transfer member has a reinforcing member in an endless configuration, a filler material such as a polymer and electrical property regulating material to regulate the electrical properties such as surface and bulk resistivity, dielectric constant and charge dissipation. The seamless intermediate transfer member also has good mechanical properties. The reinforcing member can be prepared by any suitable method such as by weaving. Filler material and electrical regulating material can be applied on, around or embedded into the reinforcing member. The member can be employed in an electrostatographic imaging system with more than one toner imaging station. The member can pick up a separate image from each individual imaging station and transfer the combined image to a suitable substrate. The seamless intermediate transfer member is capable of dissipating charge between toner imaging stations, achieving good transfer efficiencies and has a non-stretch characteristic to attain good registration of a toner image.

    摘要: Provided herein is a system for using a cleaning web in an electrostatic printing process to provide a uniform and thin wax layer on the fuser roll and thereby minimize print history effects, reduce triboelectric voltages on the fuser roll and provide uniform and improved release of the toner from the fuser roll. The application of this beneficial thin film to the fuser roll is accomplished by impregnating the cleaning web with a wax material that is substantially the same as the wax material in the toner used in the system. This impregnated wax, therefore, has the same release and triboelectric properties as the wax in the toner and therefore will not attract residual toner but will rather repel it.

    摘要: Disclosed is a liquid developers comprised of a mixture of high and low vapor pressure fluids, and wherein there is enabled with such developers in embodiments excellent fixing characteristics especially when the developed image is transferred from an intermediate substrate to the final substrate, such as paper. In embodiments of the present invention there is provided developers and processes for achieving high fix wherein the developers contains a high vapor pressure fluid, such as an Isopar, like ISOPAR L.RTM., and a low vapor pressure fluid, such as NORPAR 15.RTM., SUPURLA NF5.RTM., and the like, and which low vapor pressure fluid is substantially odorless. The high vapor pressure fluid in embodiments is removed by heat once the developer is transferred to the intermediate substrate, and the low vapor pressure fluid remains with the developer when the developed image is transfixed, that is transferred, fixed and heated simultaneously, to a supporting substrate like paper.
