摘要： In a power transmission path of a vehicle for traveling on uneven ground, a torque converter is provided so that torque transmission to a propeller shaft varies smoothly. Accordingly, it is difficult for the torque transmitted to the propeller shaft to exceed a tire slip limit. This arrangement suppresses slippage during traveling on uneven ground such as a muddy, marshy, sandy, snowy, or gravel road surfaces.

摘要： A multi-cylinder internal combustion engine comprising: first and second crankshafts disposed apart from and parallel with each other; first and second pistons operatively connected to the first and second crankshafts through connecting rods, respectively; and first and second cylinders for slidably accommodating therein the first and second pistons, respectively, both the crankshafts being interlocked with each other to rotate synchronously, the first and second cylinders being disposed adjacent to each other in the axial directions of the crankshafts. Vibrations due to the primary inertial force can be eliminated or alleviated without using a special balancer shaft. The size and weight of the engine are greatly reduced as compared with a conventional horizontally opposed type or V type engine.

The subsequent backup operation is performed on any of the datasets until another initial backup operation needs to be performed on all of the datasets again.

摘要： A portable terminal (e.g., portable telephone) is constituted using a geomagnetic sensor for detecting an azimuth, and a GPS receiver for detecting a present position thereof. A direction of a prescribed place (e.g., Mecca) is calculated based on the azimuth information and position information, so that the calculated direction is indicated by an arrow displayed on the screen of a display. In addition, a prescribed message is displayed on the screen of the display, or it is produced as preset vocalized sounds by a speaker. The azimuth information and position information are automatically produced at each religious service time, at which a user, especially a muslim who pray, holds a religious service in the direction of Mecca. In addition, the portable terminal can detect a direction match between the direction designated by the prescribed portion (e.g., antenna) of the portable terminal body and the direction of Mecca.

摘要： In a cuff of a blood pressure monitor, a distance along bending of a first expandable portion is set so as to be different from a distance along bending of a second expandable portion at the time of deflation. When a fluid bladder for pressurizing is inflated with a fluid fed thereinto, the second expandable portion expands longer. As a result, force, which is generated on a cuff fixing element which is pushed by the fluid bladder for pressurizing, acts to a vertical direction with respect to an axial direction of a subject.

摘要： The inlet and outlet passages communicating with a water-cooled engine oil cooler for a vehicle, such as a motorcycle, are arranged for bypass of a regulated amount of oil from the inlet passage to the outlet passage to enhance the flowability of the cooled oil. Provision is made for a replaceable flow control orifice between the oil inlet and outlet passages to regulate oil viscosity. Also described is an arrangement providing for mounting the cooler to the crankcase or oil pan surface whereby air flowing past the cooler during movement of the vehicle assists the effects of the cooling liquid.
