    Abstract: An aircraft propulsion system and method of cooling the same are provided. The system includes a hydraulic pump, an intermittent IC engine, a hydraulic motor, an engine oil pump, and a cooling system. The intermittent IC engine drives the hydraulic pump. The hydraulic motor is powered by the hydraulic pump and drives a propulsor fan. The cooling system includes a first heat exchanger (AIR-EO HEX) and a second heat exchanger (EO-HF HEX). The AIR-EO HEX transfers heat between flows of engine oil and ambient air. The EO-HF HEX transfers heat between flows of engine oil and hydraulic fluid. The hydraulic pump provides motive force to cause the hydraulic oil to pass through the EO-HF HEX and back to the at least one hydraulic pump. The engine oil pump provides motive force to pass the engine oil to and through the AIR-EO HEX, the EO-HF HEX, and the intermittent IC engine.

    Abstract: A thermostatic cartridge assembly for a by-pass valve that regulates fluid flow between two different fluid circuits includes a casing defining a first fluid port and a second port; a thermostatic body having a piston movable along a central axis of the thermostatic body in response to heating and expansion of the thermally responsive material; a cap joined to a second end of the casing; a biasing member urging an end of the piston against a roof of the casing; and a sleeve carried by the thermostatic body, the sleeve having a circumferential side wall and a ceiling that seat against surfaces of the casing to block the first fluid port when the thermally responsive material is at a first temperature, the circumferential side wall blocking the second fluid port when the thermally responsive material is at a second temperature greater than the first temperature.

    Abstract: A heat exchanger includes: a first flow passage for an engine coolant; a second flow passage for an engine oil; a third flow passage for a transmission oil; and plural plates that partition the first, the second and the third flow passage. The first flow passage is configured to allow the engine coolant to be heat-exchanged with both the engine oil and the transmission oil via the plates. The second flow passage is arranged in the same layer with the third flow passage. The first flow passage is arranged in a different layer from the layer of the second and the third flow passage. The third flow passage is disposed on an upstream side and second flow passage is disposed on a downstream side in a flow direction of the engine coolant in the first flow passage.
