Abstract: An aircraft propulsion system and method of cooling the same are provided. The system includes a hydraulic pump, an intermittent IC engine, a hydraulic motor, an engine oil pump, and a cooling system. The intermittent IC engine drives the hydraulic pump. The hydraulic motor is powered by the hydraulic pump and drives a propulsor fan. The cooling system includes a first heat exchanger (AIR-EO HEX) and a second heat exchanger (EO-HF HEX). The AIR-EO HEX transfers heat between flows of engine oil and ambient air. The EO-HF HEX transfers heat between flows of engine oil and hydraulic fluid. The hydraulic pump provides motive force to cause the hydraulic oil to pass through the EO-HF HEX and back to the at least one hydraulic pump. The engine oil pump provides motive force to pass the engine oil to and through the AIR-EO HEX, the EO-HF HEX, and the intermittent IC engine.

Abstract: There is provided a motorcycle. A side stand is disposed at a side-lower portion of an engine and configured to be rotatable between a using position at which the side stand can be grounded to a ground surface and a retraction position at which the side stand cannot be grounded to the ground surface. An inflow piping is configured to supply cooling water delivered from a water pump to a supercharger. An outflow piping is disposed above the supercharger and configured to return the cooling water having cooled the supercharger to the water pump. The outflow piping is provided to be horizontal or to have an upward gradient from an upstream side toward a downstream side in a state where the side stand is displaced to the using position to be grounded to the ground surface and the engine is inclined toward the side stand-side.

Abstract: A system according to the principles of the present disclosure includes a transmission fluid temperature sensor and a coolant valve control module. The transmission fluid temperature sensor measures a temperature of transmission fluid that is circulated through a transmission. The coolant valve control module controls at least one coolant valve to adjust coolant flow from an engine to a transmission fluid heat exchanger and at least one of a radiator, an engine oil heat exchanger, and a heater core. When the transmission fluid temperature is less than a first temperature, the coolant valve control module controls the at least one coolant valve to allow coolant flow from the engine to the transmission fluid heat exchanger and prevent coolant flow from the engine to the at least one of the radiator, the engine oil heat exchanger, and the heater core.

Abstract: A cooling system and method of using a cooling system for an engine equipped with an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system. A pump provides pressure for circulating liquid through the cooling system. The cooling system has two loops: an engine cooling loop and an EGR cooling loop. The engine cooling loop cools the engine in a conventional manner. The EGR cooling loop goes first to an EGR cooler and next to an oil cooler. The heat exchange at the EGR cooler results in warmed coolant being delivered to the oil cooler, where it warms engine oil. Warm-up time for engine oil is thereby decreased.

Abstract: The heat exchanger comprises a first and a second stage (E1,E2), each having an inlet and an outlet of water, the second stage (E2) having an inlet and an outlet of oil, the first stage (E1) being provided with fuel inlet and outlet nozzles, selectively connected, in parallel, to the fuel supply to the engine (M). The inlet and outlet of water of the first stage (E1) are respectively connected to the outlet of the water radiator, by means of a cooling water circuit internal to the engine (M), and to the water inlet of the second stage (E2). The water outlet of the second stage (E2) is connected to the inlet of a water radiator, and the inlet and outlet of oil in the second stage (E2) are connected in series to a lubricant oil circuit internal to the engine (M).

Abstract: A system for fuel and thermal management of fuel delivered to an engine is disclosed. The system includes a supply of fuel in fluid communication with a fuel inlet of the engine, and an oxygen sensor for measuring dissolved oxygen content in the fuel is in fluid communication with the fuel. The fuel is heated by transferring heat from engine oil in a heat exchanger. The temperature of the fuel is controlled by controlling engine oil flow and airflow through another heat exchanger upstream of the fuel/oil heat exchanger on the oil circulation path with engine oil.
