Abstract: An aircraft propulsion system and method of cooling the same are provided. The system includes a hydraulic pump, an intermittent IC engine, a hydraulic motor, an engine oil pump, and a cooling system. The intermittent IC engine drives the hydraulic pump. The hydraulic motor is powered by the hydraulic pump and drives a propulsor fan. The cooling system includes a first heat exchanger (AIR-EO HEX) and a second heat exchanger (EO-HF HEX). The AIR-EO HEX transfers heat between flows of engine oil and ambient air. The EO-HF HEX transfers heat between flows of engine oil and hydraulic fluid. The hydraulic pump provides motive force to cause the hydraulic oil to pass through the EO-HF HEX and back to the at least one hydraulic pump. The engine oil pump provides motive force to pass the engine oil to and through the AIR-EO HEX, the EO-HF HEX, and the intermittent IC engine.

Abstract: An engine is disclosed having a water cooling system allowing efficient cooling of the exhaust valves to prevent temperature gradients from building in the engine. Water is therefore pumped through the engine though first and second water cooling cores which discharge through the head. A water manifold is positioned over the discharge opening and includes couplings for the radiator supply, radiator return, water pump supply, oil cooler supply and oil cooler return. The engine has separate chambers to isolate the pistons and cylinders, and reed valves cover the chambers and allow the blow-by gases and oil to enter the oil pan during the power stroke of the engine cycle.

Abstract: Provided is a temperature management medium distributor for an internal combustion engine. The temperature management medium distributor comprises first connection openings for at least one engine temperature management circuit for temperature management of the internal combustion engine, at least one lubrication temperature management circuit for temperature management of a lubricant of the internal combustion engine, and at least one further medium circuit for removing from or supplying thermal energy to the internal combustion engine. The temperature management medium distributor also comprises second connection openings for heat exchangers. Using the heat exchangers, heat can be exchanged in a pairwise manner between each of the at least one engine temperature management circuit, the at least one lubrication temperature management circuit and the at least one further medium circuit. Also, channel sections are provided to produce fluid connections between the first connection openings and the second connection openings.

Abstract: An assembly includes a valve integration unit attached to a transmission oil heater. The valve integration unit includes a valve mechanism and a housing having first to sixth fluid ports for oil input and output. The interior space of the housing has three portions, including a second portion defining a valve chamber and a third portion defining a bypass flow passage between the first and second portions. The valve mechanism has a temperature responsive actuator and first, second and third valve elements. The movement of the first and second valve elements is actuated by the temperature responsive actuator. The third valve element and the third valve opening are located in the second portion of the interior space. The third valve element is actuatable in response to a pressure differential between the first and second portions of the interior space.
