Abstract: An exemplary image generation system accesses a full atlas frame sequence that incorporates a set of image sequences combined within the full atlas frame sequence as atlas tiles. The system generates a first partial atlas frame sequence that incorporates a first subset of image sequences selected from the set of image sequences incorporated in the full atlas frame sequence, as well as a second partial atlas frame sequence that incorporates a second subset of image sequences selected from the set of image sequences. The second subset includes a different combination of image sequences than the first subset and includes at least one image sequence in common with the first subset. The system provides the first partial atlas frame sequence to a first video encoder and the second partial atlas frame sequence to a second video encoder communicatively coupled with the first video encoder. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

Abstract: An exemplary system generates a plurality of different content files each including data representative of content of a virtual reality world, and provides the plurality of different content files to a media player device via a network. In particular, the generated and provided plurality of different content files comprises at least one of a plurality of uniform-resolution content files and a plurality of mixed-resolution content files. The plurality of uniform-resolution content files are each associated with a different respective center point within the virtual reality world. The plurality of mixed-resolution content files each correspond to one respective content sector of a plurality of partially overlapping content sectors that together form a view of the virtual reality world associated with a single center point, the one respective content sector being encoded in a high resolution while a remainder of the content sectors are encoded in a low resolution.

Abstract: An exemplary interactive media content provider system generates overall data representative of interactive media content. The exemplary interactive media content provider system concurrently provides the overall data to both a first media player device associated with a first user and a second media player device associated with a second user by way of a point-to-multipoint media delivery protocol. The first media player device and the second media player device may each be configured to render different portions of the overall data to respective display screens of the media player devices at a particular point in time based on different user input from the first user and the second user, respectively, as the first user and the second user independently interact with the interactive media content. Corresponding methods and systems are also described.

Abstract: A first communication device communicatively coupled with a second communication device by way of a first network interface and by way of a second network interface parallel to the first network interface prepares object data in accordance with a data partitioning protocol for transmission to the second communication device. The first communication device transmits the prepared object data to the second communication device at an overall data transfer rate that is at least as great as a sum of first and second data transfer rates associated, respectively, with the first and second network interfaces by concurrently transmitting first and second portions of the prepared object data by way of the first and second network interfaces and at the first and second data transfer rates, respectively. Corresponding methods and devices for receiving concurrently transmitted object data by way of parallel network interfaces are also disclosed.

Abstract: An exemplary multi-access edge computing (MEC) orchestration system obtains an operation parameter of a multi-client application that is to execute on a MEC server to be selected from a set of MEC servers located at a first set of locations within a coverage area of a provider network. When executing, the multi-client application serves respective client applications of a set of client devices located at a second set of locations within the coverage area. Based on the operation parameter, the MEC orchestration system identifies a candidate subset of MEC servers from the set of MEC servers and directs the set of client devices to test and report performance capabilities of the MEC servers in the candidate subset. Based on the reported performance capabilities, the MEC orchestration system selects, from the candidate subset of MEC servers, a particular MEC server on which the multi-client application is to execute.

Abstract: An orchestration device may receive a request to register available multi-access edge computing (MEC) resources to be shared with a network operator. For example, the available MEC resources may be provided by a provider operating a MEC host located in an edge region of a radio access network (RAN) associated with the network operator. The orchestration device may receive information related to a requested MEC session to support an application workload for a user equipment in communication with a base station located in the edge region of the RAN and assign at least a portion of the application workload to the MEC host based on a profile for the MEC host and a service level agreement specifying one or more performance requirements associated with the application workload. Accordingly, the orchestration device may cause the portion of the application workload to be transmitted to the MEC host.

Abstract: Network conditions are taken into consideration, by wireless edge devices, when streaming content, such as video content, over a wireless network. A video capture device, such as a video recorder, may be controlled, by the edge device, to adjust the bit rate, capture resolution, or other parameters relating to upload bandwidth of the video stream. The wireless edge device may transcode the video stream received from the capture device to adjust the encoding technique for the video stream. Advantageously, the wireless network and edge devices may work together to offer optimal video quality that fits within required network constraints.

Abstract: An exemplary device renders, within a field of view of an immersive virtual reality world (“world”) presented on a display screen, content of the world based on a stream of a first content file comprising a first content sector of the world. The device predicts that a user will provide user input representative of a request to shift additional content included in a second content sector of the world but not the first content sector into the field of view. Based on the prediction, the device requests and begins receiving a stream of a second content file comprising the second content sector. The device then detects the predicted user input from the user and, in response, switches from rendering the content included in the first content sector based on the first content file to rendering the additional content included in the second content sector based on the second content file.
