摘要: A reinforced seam/inlay and method for forming such seam/inlay to join pieces of synthetic turf material together are disclosed. The reinforced seam/inlay structure comprises abutted edges of first and second synthetic turf pieces having a backing joined together; a seaming cloth/tape material coated with an adhesive/glue, volatile solvent or heat activated material applied is positioned beneath the abutted edges of synthetic turf pieces wherein said abutted edges are adhered to said seaming cloth/tape material; and reinforcement fastener elements inserted through both the backing of the synthetic turf material, through the adhesive and the seaming cloth/tape material; or seam/inlay structure comprises of overlapping edges of first and second synthetic turf pieces having a backing joined together; the backing without seaming cloth/tape material can be coated with an adhesive/glue, volatile solvent or heat activated material or not and reinforcement fastener elements inserted through both the backing of the synthetic turf material.

摘要: Pile weatherstripping (20) having an integral fin is made by wrapping a fin material around a traveling mandrel or band (14), winding pile material around the fin material and the band (14), attaching a pair of backer elements to the pile material along opposite edges of the band, and then cutting the fin material and the pile material to produce simultaneously two pile weatherstrips. Stationary and traveling elements may be employed to facilitate cutting and produce fin above the pile weatherstrips (20).

摘要: Apparatus for manufacturing sheet-like material having a thermoplastic pile surface includes a cylindrical roll having a heated surface, a feed arrangement for feeding a foundation layer and a thermoplastic material to the heated surface of the roll with the thermoplastic material located between and in contact with the surface and the foundation layer and a withdrawing arrangement for withdrawing the foundation layer and thermoplastic material from the heated surface in a manner such that the thermoplastic material is drawn into filaments which are attached to the foundation layer. In one embodiment the laminate is withdrawn from the roll over a tube or bar and a jet is provided for directing a jet of cooling fluid from the back of the foundation layer into the area where the filaments are formed. In another embodiment the laminate is withdrawn from the roll over a rod or bar which is inter-related with a front jet so that cooling fluid is deflected into the space between the bar and the roll.

摘要: A pile weatherstrip has a pile of yarn ultrasonically welded to a backing strip inside a channel defined by flanges, called pile directors, which direct the pile perpendicularly with respect to the backing. A film provides a covering for the pile and is releasably attached to the flanges on the outside thereof. The covering film may have perforations therein which are located adjacent to the flanges near the upper ends of the flanges. Alternatively, a weak ultrasonic weld of the covering to the flanges, such as made at much lower energy than used to weld the pile and the backing together, provides a releasable attachment for the covering. The covering protects the pile, for example during installation in a frame which may be painted after the weatherstrip is installed. The covering can be released by being pulled off the pile director flanges after installation and painting.

摘要: The invention provides a method of producing a microneedle. A jig is heated to a temperature above the level at which a temperature-sensitive material that exhibits thermoplastic deformation becomes viscoplastic, the jig is brought into contact with the temperature-sensitive material, and then the jig is pulled part from the temperature-sensitive material to elongate the portion of the temperature-sensitive material in contact with the jig, whereby acicular projections are formed.
