Abstract: The present invention provides a flexible glass and manufacturing method thereof. The flexible glass includes a first straight part and a second straight part on two opposite ends thereof, a recess formed between the first straight part and the second straight part, and a pre-bent curve connection part disposed corresponding to the recess. The first straight part and the second straight part are not arranged on the same plane. The flexible glass has a first lateral side and a second lateral side, and the recess sinks from the first lateral side toward the second lateral side. Therefore, the flexible glass is provided with a greater bendability.

Abstract: A method of forming a shaped glass article includes placing a glass sheet on a mold such that a first glass area of the glass sheet corresponds to a first mold surface area of the mold and a second glass area of the glass sheet corresponds to a second mold surface area of the mold. The first glass area and the second glass area are heated such that the viscosity of the second glass area is 8 poise or more lower than the viscosity of the first glass area. A force is applied to the glass sheet to conform the glass sheet to the mold surface. During the heating of the second glass area, the first mold surface area is locally cooled to induce a thermal gradient on the mold.

Abstract: A method of bending a glass sheet includes placing the glass sheet on a support and heating the entire glass sheet to a first viscosity. A band of heat is applied and translated along the selected region of the glass sheet in which a predetermined is to be formed over a time period to form the predetermined in the selected region. The band of heat sectionally heats the selected region to a second viscosity that is lower than the first viscosity. An actuated force is applied to the glass sheet to incrementally form the predetermined bend in the selected region according to the location of the band of heat in the selected region.

Abstract: Methods of fabricating a glass laminate is provided. According to one embodiment, a glass laminate comprised of a microwave absorbing layer and a microwave transparent layer is formed. The microwave absorbing layer is characterized by a microwave loss tangent δH that is at least a half order of magnitude larger than a loss tangent δLof the microwave transparent layer. An area of the glass laminate is exposed to microwave radiation. The exposed area comprises a cross-laminate hot zone having a cross-laminate hot zone temperature profile. Substantially all microwave absorbing layer portions of the hot zone temperature profile and substantially all microwave transparent layer portions of the hot zone temperature profile reside above the glass transition temperature TG of the various layers of the glass laminate prior to impingement by the microwave radiation. In accordance with another embodiment, a method of fabricating a glass laminate is provided where the exposed area of the glass laminate is characterized by a viscosity below approximately 1×104 poise.
