A circuit breaker for protecting an electric circuit contains a housing and an adapter having a receiving connector. The circuit breaker has two electrically conductive, substantially cylinder-shaped connection points which are positioned along an axis. Either the outer diameter of the connection points is between 5.0 mm and 5.3 mm and the maximum distance between the connection points is between 19.0 mm and 21.0 mm, or the outer diameter of the connection points is between 6.2 mm and 6.5 mm and the maximum distance between the connection points is between 30.5 mm and 33.0 mm.

A circuit breaker can minimize a change in a structure of a case when a material forming a stud is changed. A stud includes a base portion provided in the case and a protruding portion protruding from the case. A cross-sectional area of the protruding portion is more than that of the base portion; thereby a thermal conductivity of the protruding portion increases and the thermal conductivity from the protruding portion to an external conductor connected to the stud increases. In addition, since a surface area of the protruding portion increases, an amount of heat dissipated from the protruding portion increases. In the invention, since dimensions of the base portion inserted into a stud insertion hole of the case are not changed, it is not necessary to change the dimensions of the insertion hole of the case.

An electric circuit breaker enclosure includes a pultruded glass-filled plastic inset for added strength to the line and load terminal straps. The line and load terminal straps are fastened to the inset on the side and receive the corresponding line and load terminal cables on an opposite side thereof. The inset allows connection within a high-rated electrical power distribution circuit without damage to the circuit breaker case upon short circuit interruption.

Provided is a circuit breaker capable of minimizing a change in the structure of, for example, a case even when a material (thermal conductivity) forming a stud is changed.A stud (20) includes a base portion (21) that is provided in a case (2) and a protruding portion (22) that protrudes from the case (2). The cross-sectional area of the protruding portion (22) is more than that of the base portion (21). When the cross-sectional area of the protruding portion (22) is more than that of the base portion (21) in the stud (20), the thermal conductivity of the protruding portion (22) increases and it is possible to increase the thermal conductivity from the protruding portion (22) to an external conductor connected to the stud. In addition, since the surface area of the protruding portion (22) increases, the amount of heat dissipated from the protruding portion (22) increases. In this case, since the dimensions of the base portion (21) inserted into a stud insertion hole (2b) of the case (2) do not vary, it is not necessary to change the dimensions of the insertion hole (2b) of the case (2). Therefore, it is possible to minimize a change in the structure of a component even when the material forming the stud is changed.

A terminal covering cap is mounted over the connection terminals of a multi-phase electrical switching device in order to increase the electric strength between the connection terminals of neighbouring phases. The L-shaped terminal covering cap closely abuts on its side facing the insulating housing the marginal region of connection openings leading to the connection terminals, with a negligible air gap. With this barrier, the required increased test voltage between the connection terminals can be withstood. On the side facing away from the insulating housing, the terminal covering cap is provided with ribs, to extend the creep distance on this side of the terminal covering cap. The terminal covering cap formed in this way makes it possible to carry out testing a the prescribed, increased test voltage without enlarging the insulating housing in order to extend the creep distance between the connection terminals of neighbouring phases.

A circuit breaker assembly includes a lug assembly with a main structural body having cable holes extending through a cable-receiving face, the cable holes including a first cable hole separated by a second cable hole from a third cable hole. Each of the cable holes is configured to receive a respective power cable. The structural body further includes wire-binding holes extending at least in part through a wire-binding face, the wire-binding holes including a first wire-binding hole separated by a second wire-binding hole from a third wire-binding hole. The first wire-binding hole has a first longitudinal axis at an angle that intersects a third longitudinal axis of the third wire-binding hole. A fastener is inserted through the second wire-binding hole, the fastener having an hourglass section with a contour that generally matches at least in part a corresponding contour of the first cable hole and the third cable hole.
