    摘要: A circuit interruption device includes a support, a set of separable contacts, a first member movable between an OFF position and an ON position, a second member, and a transport mechanism that includes a shape memory alloy element. When the first member is in the OFF position, the second member is in an extended position, the shape memory alloy element is in its first shape, and the first surface and the another first surface are engaged with one another and resist movement of the first member away from the OFF position. Responsive to an electrical pulse, the shape memory alloy element transforms into its second shape and moves the first member toward the ON position. When the second member is in the extended position, the another second surface engages with the second surface to resist movement of the first member away from the ON position.

    摘要: A time delay relay is disclosed in which bimetal snap disc actuators are heated by a PTC heater to cause the operation of an associated switch after a predetermined time delay interval. The bimetal snap discs are supported in metal retaining cups positioned on opposite sides of the heater. The retaining cups function to support the snap discs, position the heater, provide an electrical connection for the heater, and to provide a heat conducting flow path between the heater and each associated disc. In one embodiment, a single snap disc assembly is positioned on each side of the heater. In another embodiment, the assemblies provide two separate bimetal snap discs on each side of the heater.

Electrical heating means are provided for the thermal expansion member and a switch is activated by the thermal expansion member. The switches remain in the activated state after activation and are resettable by external activation.

    摘要: An aircraft circuit breaker in which a push-pull manual operator controls a slidable contact carrier. The contact carrier is controlled by a pair of laterally extending slides which are engaged, respectively, with a current responsive bimetal and an ambient temperature-responsive bimetal. Relative lateral movement of the slides effects disengagement of a latch to permit movement of slidable contact carrier into the contact''s open position. A manual latch, operated by the push-pull manual operator, is provided which self-disengages when the automatic latch disengages. The manual latch includes a manual latch member which is mounted independently of the temperature-responsive bimetal and a manual latch surface which is supported on the housing independently of the current-responsive bimetal element which is engageable with the latch member to effect a manual latch for maintaining the contacts in a closed condition.

    摘要: An actuator system for use in an electrical relay or the like. An actuator member is carried by a frame and is movable between a first and a second position, being biased toward its first position by a spring and having an actuating wire coupled between it and the frame. This wire is stretched from its original length to a second length by the spring when the actuator member is in its first position. The wire is of a selected metal alloy which, upon being heated, shortens its length and thus causes the tension in the wire to increase an amount sufficient to overcome the bias of the spring and to move the actuator member towards its second position. The actuator system further includes selectively operable heating means for the wire and an ambient temperature compensator for insuring that upon operation of the heating means, the wire is sufficiently heated to effect movement of the actuating member from its first to its second position and for preventing the wire from being overstressed, regardless of changes in ambient temperature within a limited range.
