Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to perform audio watermarking and watermark detection and extraction are disclosed. Example apparatus disclosed herein are to select frequency components to be used to represent a code, different sets of frequency components to represent respectively different information, respective ones of the frequency components in the sets of frequency components located in respective code bands, there being multiple code bands and spacing between adjacent code bands being equal to or less than the spacing between adjacent frequency components in the code bands. Disclosed example apparatus are also to synthesize the frequency components to be used to represent the code, combine the synthesized frequency components with an audio block of an audio signal, and output the audio signal and a video signal associated with the audio signal.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to audio watermarking and watermark detection and extracted are described herein. An example method includes receiving a media content signal, sampling the media content signal to generate samples, storing the samples in a buffer, determining a first sequence of samples in the buffer, determining a second sequence of samples in the buffer, wherein the second sequence of samples is of substantially equal length as the first sequence of samples, calculating an average of the first sequence of samples and the second sequence of samples to generate an average sequence of samples, extracting an identifier from the average sequence of samples, and storing the identifier in a tangible memory.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to verify and/or correct media lineup information are disclosed. Disclosed example apparatus include means for determining reference media, the means for determining reference media to identify a plurality of first signatures in a database that matches a plurality of second signatures included in media presentation data representative of media output by a media device in response to a mismatch between the media presentation data and reference data associated with first reference media corresponding to a first station, the plurality of second signatures generated from the media output by the media device; and determine second reference media corresponding to the plurality of first signatures; and means for storing the media presentation data.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to verify radio station watermarking with software defined radios are disclosed. Example apparatus disclosed herein include a notch filter having a bandwidth and a center frequency corresponding to a first radio station broadcast signal, and a software defined radio front-end to downconvert a radio frequency band to a baseband signal, the radio frequency band including a second radio station broadcast signal different from the first radio station broadcast signal. Disclosed example apparatus also include a software defined radio application to tune to a portion of the baseband signal corresponding to the second radio station broadcast signal and to demodulate the portion of the baseband signal to generate audio data corresponding to the second radio station broadcast signal. Disclosed example apparatus further include a watermark decoder to detect a watermark in the audio data corresponding to the second radio station broadcast signal.
Abstract:
Encoding and decoding methods and apparatus are described. An example method is described for embedding information into audio by determining a first set of frequency components to represent a synchronization block, the synchronization block representing one of a plurality of different message types, one frequency component from each set of frequency components being located in a respective code band, and spacing between adjacent code bands is equal to or less than the spacing between adjacent frequency components of each code band. Determining amplitudes of respective ones of the first set of frequency components representing the synchronization block based on a masking ability of an audio block of the audio. Synthesizing the first set of frequency components representing the synchronization block to determine a first set of synthesized code frequency components, based on the determined amplitudes. Combining the first set of synthesized code frequency components with the audio block.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture (e.g., physical storage media) to verify radio station watermarking with software defined radios are disclosed. Example methods disclosed herein to verify watermarking of radio station broadcasts include calibrating a notch filter to attenuate a first radio station broadcast signal. Disclosed example methods also include tuning a software defined radio to demodulate a second radio station broadcast signal from an output of the notch filter, the second radio station broadcast signal different from the first radio station broadcast signal. Disclosed example methods further include processing, with a watermark decoder, audio data resulting from the tuning of the software defined radio to verify watermarking of the second radio station broadcast signal.
Abstract:
A second screen system comprises a first screen that renders a first content comprising watermarks of a first type and watermarks of a second type. The watermarks of the first type are captured by a second screen that reacts to these watermarks. The second screen displays information to a user and receives user input. The second screen also watermarks a second content with watermarks of the second type and renders the second content. A third device captures watermarks of the second type in both the first content and the second content. Since the watermarks embedded by the second screen can depend on the user's actions, the third device can indirectly react to the user's actions.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to validate a tag for media are disclosed. An example method includes obtaining first identification information extracted from a tag distributed with media presented at a presentation location, obtaining second identification information determined from at least one of a) inherent information of at least one of audio or video of the media presented at the presentation location or b) a watermark embedded in at least one of the audio or the video of the media presented at the presentation, comparing the first identification information with the second identification information, and when first identification information does not substantially match the second identification information, preventing the tag from being used to report exposure of the media.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for monitoring transmissions of media content (such as audio and audiovisual content) in order to obtain independent and objective data regarding the use of specific media content recordings or works within the transmissions. Processing and reporting of such data is provided in various ways to serve a variety of business needs. Methods for employing content identification technology to efficiently and automatically obtain reliable, accurate, and precise monitoring data are also disclosed. Various information products and services based on such monitoring systems are proposed.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to verify and/or correct media lineup information are disclosed. An example method includes comparing presentation data representative of media output by a first set top box (STB) to reference data corresponding to a first station to determine whether the media presentation data corresponds to the reference data, the presentation data collected while the first STB was tuned to a first channel. The method further includes determining a second station that corresponds to the presentation data when the presentation data does not correspond to the reference data. The method further includes correcting a first channel map that relates the first channel to the first station by relating the first channel to the second station to create a second channel map, and correcting clickstream data that represents commands to other STBs using the second channel map.
