Abstract:
A flexible composite scintillator was prepared by mixing fast, bright, dense rare-earth doped powdered oxyorthosilicate (such as LSO:Ce, LSO:Sm, and GSO:Ce) scintillator with a polymer binder. The binder is transparent to the scintillator emission. The composite is seamless and can be made large and in a wide variety of shapes. Importantly, the composite can be tailored to emit light in a spectral region that matches the optimum response of photomultipliers (about 400 nanometers) or photodiodes (about 600 nanometers), which maximizes the overall detector efficiency.

The system includes a waste water storage tank connected from the waste water discharge ports of the crystal clear water and grey water stone fabrication equipment, a grey water supply loop for pumping waste water from the waste water storage tank as grey water to the grey water stone fabrication equipment and a crystal clear water supply loop for pumping waste water through a high pressure filter to convert the waste water into the crystal clear water, and a crystal clear water supply pump for pumping crystal clear water to crystal clear water stone fabrication equipment. The high pressure filter includes a frame holding a filter stack.
Abstract:
Dictyostatin-1 has been found to stabilize microtubules and prohibit their depolymerization to free tubulin. Because of these activities, the dictyostatin compounds can be used in the treatment of a number of diseases in which aberrant cellular proliferation occurs such as drug-sensitive and drug-resistant cancers, autoimmune disorders, and inflammatory diseases.
Abstract:
A method of polishing a wafer in a carrier by a polishing pad, controlling a ratio of platen speed to carrier speed (PS to CS) within a specific range, or controlling a first polishing step with a PS to CS ratio in the range of about 150:1 to about 1:150 followed by a second polishing step with a platen speed of about 0 to 20 rpm while maintaining the carrier speed used in the first polishing step, which maximizes clearing of residual material removed from a patterned wafer surface by polishing.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus to characterize a synchronous device after it is packaged. For synchronous devices, such as SDRAMs implementing a Delay Locked Loop (DLL) to synchronize one signal, such as an external clock signal with a second signal, such as a data signal, a counter is coupled to the phase detector of the DLL to track the entry point of the delay line. The entry point information can be taken over a variety of voltages, temperatures, and frequencies to characterize the DLL. The counter may be located on the synchronous device or external to the device.
Abstract:
Presented is a humane wild animal trap device that includes a trigger mechanism having four easily assemblable elements for supporting the bait, a bottom flat sheet on which the trigger mechanism is supported when set and baited, and an enclosure the open side of which is superimposed on the flat bottom sheet and which enclosure is tilted upwardly from one end so that the elevated end rests on a selected one of the four elements included in the trigger mechanism and which element is released from a second element that supports the bait when a wild animal takes the bait, thus causing the elevated enclosure to fall onto the flat bottom sheet to trap the wild animal within the enclosure. The four elements of the trigger mechanism are interrelated in such a manner that two of the elements support the trigger mechanism while the other two elements are pivotally interengaged with one of the support elements and are releasably interengaged one with the other to support the tilted enclosure and the bait and to set the trap so that the enclosure falls when the bait is taken.
Abstract:
The subject invention provides novel biologically active compounds which are useful for inhibiting cellular proliferation. Because of the biological activity of these compounds, they can be used for immunomodulation and/or treating cancer. In a preferred embodiment, the novel compounds, compositions and methods of use of the subject invention can advantageously be used to inhibit the growth of tumor cells in a mammalian host. More particularly, the subject compounds can be used for inhibiting in a human the growth of tumor cells, including cells of breast, colon, CNS, ovarian, renal, prostate, bone, gastrointestinal, stomach, testicular, or lung tumors, as well as human leukemia or melanoma cells. Specifically exemplified are discalamides A and B.
Abstract:
A vehicle-borne spray boom apparatus has multiple articulated sections that are foldable and individually supported with respect to the ground to maintain a consistent and optimal distance between the boom sections and the ground on hilly and uneven terrain. A center section of the boom is mounted on a forward facing frame element of the vehicle, and boom arms extending from either end of the center section each comprise at least first and second sections, each supported by a ground-engaging wheel. Each first section is coupled at one end to the center section to permit vertical inclination with respect to the center section, and each second section is coupled at one end to a respective first section to permit vertical inclination with respect to such first section. The coupling between the central and first sections additionally permits relative horizontal inclination, and releasable latch mechanisms are triggered upon full horizontal extension of the first sections to maintain proper alignment between the first and center sections.
Abstract:
Provided is a symmetrical filter that uses a single comparator. In addition to a voltage divider, a current regulator, and a comparator, the filter of the invention provides control logic that turns on or off a pull up switch and/or pull down switch in order to fully charge or fully discharge a capacitor. Accordingly, in one aspect, the invention is a control logic for a symmetrical filter. Furthermore, timing logic is provided to provide for a more rigorous symmetrical filter performance.
Abstract:
An integrated circuit (10) is disclosed comprising a fundamental frequency oscillator comprising a reference node (32) whose voltage varies between a high threshold and a low threshold. The fundamental frequency oscillator is operable to generate a first output at the fundamental frequency on a first output node (36). The integrated circuit (10) also comprises a circuit (C2) coupled to the reference node. The circuit (C2) is operable to sense the voltage at the reference node (32), to determine when the voltage exceeds an intermediate threshold between the high threshold and the low threshold, and to generate a second output in response to the determination. The integrated circuit (10) also comprises logic (40) coupled to the circuit (C2) and load circuitry (50) coupled to the logic (40). The logic (40) is operable to generate an output signal at an output frequency greater than the fundamental frequency in response to the second output and the first output.
