摘要： An optical disc discriminating system comprises: a tracking error signal generating means adapted to generate a tracking error signal whose amplitude level varies with a groove depth of information tracks on an optical disc; a tracking servo means for directing a laser beam along an information track on the optical disc in accordance with the tracking error signal; a comparator adapted to compare the amplitude level of the tracking error signal supplied from the tracking error signal generating means with a reference level, with a tracking servo loop of the tracking servo means in an opened condition; a discriminating means adapted to discriminate the first and second groups of optical discs in accordance with a result from the comparator.

The information record medium is provided with: a record/reproduction area (DA) having a groove track (2), which is wobbled and continuously formed and on which the information is recorded and reproduced by a phase changing method by use of a light beam (B) having a wavelength of not less than 630 nm (nanometer) and not more than 680 nm; and a reproduction-dedicated area (RA) where a plurality of phase pits (PI) are wobbled and formed in advance, each having a depth of not less than 60 nm and not more than 90 nm and where only an information reproduction is possible by the light beam.

摘要： An information recording apparatus for recording at least a video signal and a digital audio signal onto an optical record medium, is provided with: a pulse signal generation device for generating a pulse signal having a pulse width corresponding to the video signal and the digital audio signal to be recorded; a first pulse width adjustment device coupled to the pulse signal generation device, for decreasing the pulse width of the pulse signal by an amount proportional to the pulse width of the pulse signal to output a firstly adjusted signal having a firstly adjusted pulse width; a second pulse width adjustment device coupled to the first pulse width adjustment device, for increasing the firstly adjusted pulse width of the firstly adjusted signal by a predetermined amount to output a secondly adjusted signal having a secondly adjusted pulse width; and a light emission device for emitting a recording light corresponding to the secondly adjusted signal onto the optical record medium to form a record pit having a pit length corresponding to the secondly adjusted pulse width of the secondly adjusted signal.
