Abstract:
A control system for controlling airflow through a vent. The system includes a vent assembly having a frame. The frame includes an opening to allow air to flow through the frame. The vent assembly also includes a movable damper for variably restricting the fluid flow through the opening in the vent assembly, a motor for controlling movement of the damper, and a sensor for determining the position of the damper. In addition, a controller is provided to control the motor to vary the position of the damper to thereby vary the airflow through the opening in the vent assembly.
Abstract:
A lighting system adapted to mount on a motorcycle or bicycle helmet. The lighting system includes a one or more accelerometers coupled to the helmet and a processor adapted to process the signals from the accelerometers. The accelerometers may be mounted to the helmet, or the motorcycle or bicycle. The lighting system further includes a light mounted on the helmet that is responsive to the processed signal such that the light illuminates as result of a deceleration force. The system may also include filtering software to remove helmet motion artifact and other noise from the signal. Remote wheel speed indicators may also be used in conjunction with or in place of the accelerometers. Mounting tabs may also be included to releasably attach the lighting unit to the helmet.
Abstract:
An intermediate queuing/de-queuing mechanism between an asynchronous server and a synchronous process or client allows the asynchronous server to communicate with the synchronous client in a performance oriented and asynchronous manner. The coexistence of two different queuing mechanisms within the same logical execution environment is thus enabled. Further, the asynchronous merging of other format updates during the recovery process is facilitated, such as change accumulation and image copy records. Operations between the synchronous process and asynchronous processes are thus expedited, embedding a synchronous process within the total asynchronous environment of the overall data processing system to enable restoration of the database.
Abstract:
An inductive device (200) that includes a core (210) configured so as to be a closed loop and at least one coil (220) around the core, and methods for assembly. The coil is formed from a material having a cross-section with an aspect ratio of a first dimension to a second adjacent dimension, with the first dimension being longer than the second dimension, wherein the coil is positioned around the core such that the first dimension is essentially normal to the core. In one embodiment the core includes a removable core section to enable assembly of the inductive device by slidably placing the coil onto the core through an opening formed in the core by removing the core section. In another embodiment, the coil is rotated to cause it to wind around the core.
Abstract:
An elongate probe suitable for measuring one or more properties of a stream of fluid, the probe having an external planar sensing surface, which in use is exposed to the stream of fluid, at a longitudinal end thereof and comprising a plurality of sensors at the planar external sensing surface.
Abstract:
Mapping or encryption of a message made up of characters from a character set is provided. Each character in the character set is associated with one or more disjoint real number intervals. Each character in the message is represented by a real number randomly selected from one of the intervals with which the character of the character set is associated. In some aspects, the resulting set of real numbers is translated to another set of real numbers by the application of a translation function or successive application of two or more translation functions. The translation functions never result in two different real numbers being translated to a single number.
Abstract:
An apparatus for facilitating the various placement of an antenna within a wireless transceiver device such as a wireless personal data assistant is presented. Such an apparatus enables the relocation of an antenna device in accordance with a user preferred configuration. The relocation of the antenna device does not effect the overall performance and does not require further termination of unused antenna configurations. Such an apparatus facilitates the preferred placement of an antenna in accordance with a user's hand preference (e.g., right handedness verses left handedness).
Abstract:
The present invention inter alia relates to an apparatus and a method. The apparatus comprises a body part and a cover part, wherein the body part and the cover part are configured to at least partially form a fluid channel between a surface of the body part and a surface of the cover part. The surfaces of the body part and the cover part may be facing surfaces. The method comprises manufacturing the apparatus according to the present invention.
Abstract:
The invention faces the technical problem of providing a tight connection between a tube and an dispense interface, while at the same time the biocompatibility of the connection can be improved. The technical problem is solved by an apparatus comprising a tube configured to guide a medium and a dispense interface. The tube comprises a first opening and a second opening, while the dispense interface comprises a recess. The recess has a first opening and a second opening and the tube is at least in part inserted into the recess. The tube is permanently affixed to the dispense interface by a combination of an interference fit and an adhesive, such that the interference fit prevents the adhesive from contaminating the medium.
