Abstract: Apparatuses, computer readable media, and methods for scheduling trigger frames in a high-efficiency wireless (HEW) local-area network are disclosed. An apparatus of a HEW master station is disclosed. The HEW master station includes transceiver circuitry and processing circuitry configured to transmit a random access trigger frame (TF-R) to a plurality of HEW stations, and receive resource requests from one or more of the plurality of HEW stations in response to the TF-R. The transceiver circuitry and processing circuitry is further configured to transmit an indication when a trigger frame is to be transmitted. The trigger frame is to comprise resource allocations in response to the resource requests. An apparatus of a HEW station may enter a power save mode until a time when a trigger frame is scheduled that includes resource allocations in response to resource requests transmitted to a master station from the HEW station.

Abstract: Embodiments of a user station (STA), access point (AP), and method for random access contention in a wireless network are generally described herein. The STA may receive, from the AP, a beacon frame for a beacon interval. The STA may further receive a first random access Trigger Frame (TF) that indicates a first allocation of channel resources for random access contention by STAs during a first uplink transmission period of the beacon interval. The beacon frame may include a transmission timing for the first random access TF and a first TF cascade type for the first random access TF. The first TF cascade type may indicate whether a next TF is a random access TF or a scheduled access TF.

Abstract: This disclosure describes methods, devices, and systems related to generate a trigger frame including one or more resource block identifications (RBIDs), each RBID being associated with a respective resource unit of one or more resource units on a communication channel; cause to transmit the first trigger frame to each of one or more devices; process a received power save poll (PS-poll) bit from a first device of the one or more devices on a spatial stream and a first resource unit of the one or more resource units; cause to transmit an acknowledgment to each of the one or more user devices; cause to transmit data buffered in the at least one processor to the first device; and process a received acknowledgment from the first device confirming receipt of the data.

Abstract: Apparatus, computer readable medium, and methods for initiating uplink multi-user medium access in high-efficiency wireless local-area networks (WLANs) are disclosed. A station is disclosed comprising circuitry configured to generate a trigger frame comprising one or more resource allocations. Each of the resource allocations may include an indication of whether the resource allocation is an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) resource allocation or a multiple-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) resource allocation. An identity either of an OFDMA group or an MU-MIMO group may be included. Each resource allocation may include an indication of a bandwidth for the OFDMA resource allocation or a bandwidth for the MU-MIMO resource allocation. Each OFDMA resource allocation may include one or more indications of an address of one or more HE stations and one or more indications of an OFDMA sub-channel resource allocation for the corresponding HE station.

Abstract: Uplink requests for bandwidth and/or other types of communication resources are provided. In some embodiments, a communication device can access a mapping between quality of service (QoS) metrics and communication resources. The communication device can determine a value of the QoS (e.g., a guaranteed rate, a defined traffic priority, an amount of buffered data, etc.) and can determine a communication resource element using at least the mapping and the value of the QoS metric. The communication device also can configure an uplink request for communication resources based at least on the communication resource element. Abstract: Techniques for power saving by remote wireless mobile devices are provided, in particular by stations (STAs) during downlink (DL) multiple-user multiple-input and multiple-output (MU-MIMO) transmissions in an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11ay network when reverse direction (RD) transmissions are either enabled and not enabled. Various embodiments enable each STA in a group of STAs to determine an order in which the STAs are requested to send a block acknowledgement (BACK) and which STAs will be granted an RD transmission. Further, a duration of each RD transmission is provided to each STA. Based on the provided information, each STA can determine times to enter a power saving mode. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for random access to a wireless network are described herein. Components of a wireless station may obtain a back-off value. The components may also decode random access resource units from a frame transmitted to the wireless station from an access point of the wireless network. The components may decrement the back-off for each decoded random access frame. The wireless station may select this frame from a sequence of frames when the back-off reaches zero while decoding the random access resource units of this frame. The wireless station then selects the random access resource unit with a more favorable transmission metric than another random access resource unit of the frame and uses the selected random access resource unit to communicate with the access point.

Abstract: Apparatuses, methods and computer readable media for multi-user request-to-send and clear-to-send are disclosed. An apparatus of a high-efficiency wireless local area network (HEW) master station comprising circuitry is disclosed. The circuitry may be configured to: select a first group of stations to transmit a multi-user request-to-send (MU-RTS) transmission to and generate a MU-RTS packet for the first group of stations. The circuitry may be configured to transmit the MU-RTS packet to the first group of stations. The MU-RTS may include a resource map that indicates a subchannel for each of the first group of stations to receive data on and/or a power control indication for at least one of the stations of the one or more stations. The MU-RTS may indicate that some of the first group of stations should transmit a multi-user clear-to-send (MU-CTS) and others of the first group of stations should not transmit a MU-CTS.
